Indian soldier dismissed for complaining of poor food approaches court

A former constable of the Indian Border Security Force (BSF), who had shamed the Modi government by sharing the plight of troops serving at the border in an online video, has moved the Punjab and Haryana High Court, seeking to get his dismissal order revoked. Ex-constable Tej Bahadur, in a video shared on Facebook in January 2017, revealed some bitter truths about the Indian forces, alleging that the higher officials sell off supplies meant for troops, often forcing them to go to bed on empty stomachs. The video had gone viral on social media and prompted an inquiry by BSF authorities. Bahadur filed a petition in the high court on Tuesday, after which the court has issued a notice to the centre, director general of the BSF and others, his counsel S P Yadav said told Indian media outlets. "Since no improvement took place in food quality and quantity, the petitioner and his BSF colleagues decided to make a video proof of such poor quality and quantity of food for showing it to their senior officers," Yadav said. Indian BSF soldier punished with plumber's duty for exposing corruption In a video shared on Facebook, sepoy Tej Bahadur Yadav had alleged higher officials of selling off supplies meant for troops Indian soldier shames Modi govt over deplorable working conditions Tej Bahadur Yadav, a BSF soldier, alleges higher officials of selling off supplies meant for troops, say they are often forced to go to beds hungry Bahadur, in his petition, stated that two charge-sheets were issued against him in February 2017 and the Indian Summary Security Force Court (SSFC) passed an impugned order in April 2017, dismissing him from the BSF. The dismissed soldier, who had also been punished with a plumber's duty following his attempt to expose seniors' corruption, also filed an appeal against the SSFC order, which was rejected by the DG BSF in November last year, the NDTV quoted his counsel as saying. "We just raised a point that petitioner was just demanding food in sufficient quantity. But he was dismissed from service," he said. The court has fixed the next date of hearing on May 28, Yadav said, adding that the former soldier has sought quashing of his dismissal order.

For Saudi tycoons freed from detention, cheers and a business challenge

Saudi Arabian billionaire Prince Alwaleed bin Talal sits for an interview with Reuters in the office of the suite where he has been detained at the Ritz-Carlton in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia January 27, 2018. ? Reuters FILE RIYADH: Cheering supporters greeted Saudi Arabian billionaire Prince Alwaleed bin Talal when he arrived at his skyscraper offices in Riyadh after his release from detention in an anti-corruption crackdown. But he and other tycoons freed from a luxury hotel in the Saudi capital face a challenge to get back into the swing of running their financial empires in the uncertainty hanging over the business community since their detention in early November. Their ability to do so could impact Saudi Arabia?s attempts to lure investors to big projects, an important part of Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman?s grand vision to transform the kingdom and reduce its dependence on oil. ?It will need another six to nine months without disruption or another witch hunt before anyone would be willing to move on anything major,? a regional banker said of the business climate. ?This is not the right time to bring anything to market.? Online footage showed Prince Alwaleed waving from a luxury car in a convoy trailed by police as he arrived this week at the Kingdom Center skyscraper one day after his release, and then walking inside with his private physician. A source familiar with the matter said the prince received an operational update on his global portfolio, which includes stakes in Twitter (TWTR.K), ride-hailing firm Lyft and French hotel operator Accor (ACCP.PA). In the first few days after his detention, the share price of his investment firm Kingdom Holding (4280.SE) plunged 23 percent, erasing $2.2 billion of his personal fortune on paper. After a jump this week, the stock has regained almost all that it lost, but during the prince?s detention the overall stock market rose 10 percent. Kingdom shares do not reflect that gain, indicating investors are still applying a discount to his company because of the uncertainty. Prince Alwaleed?s predicament suggests Saudi tycoons who have long been content to focus on amassing huge profits must now consider whether the government?s anti-corruption drive could stop them in their tracks. Saudi Arabia?s attorney general said on Tuesday that settlement deals had secured just over $100 billion from members of the elite. He did not provide a breakdown, and Reuters could not verify that figure. Back in the driving seat In another video, property mogul Mohammad Aboud al-Amoudi sits in a black office chair at his home in Jeddah receiving kisses on the hand and forehead from a procession of well-wishers who utter thanksgiving for his safe return after nearly three months in the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Riyadh. A company representative reached by phone said Amoudi was in good health. ?It is as if he was traveling and returned, nothing more,? said the person who declined to be named, adding it was not clear if he would run the company again. Associates of other released detainees, including media magnate Waleed al-Ibrahim and retail billionaire Fawaz al-Hokair, told Reuters they were at home catching up with family and close friends. An email to MBC employees seen by Reuters described Ibrahim as ?fit and eager to get back?. It said he would travel to Dubai in a couple of weeks to get ?back in the driving seat.? Hokair, meanwhile, is hosting dinners for guests, according to one attendee. The stock price of his company, fashion retailer Fawaz Abdulaziz Alhokair Co (4240.SE), is still 13 percent below its level just before he was detained. ?It?s as if he was on a business trip or in a summer holiday or a religious trip. He is fully motivated, full of ambitions,? the attendee said. ?He does not talk about anything, he just says he was happy and received good treatment.? These men are among the last group released from the Ritz, which had been used since November as a prison and interrogation center for dozens of senior princes, ministers and businessmen and was cleared out on Tuesday. Specific allegations against the men and the settlements they agreed before their release were kept secret. Some may have been moved to prison after refusing to admit wrongdoing and reach financial settlements; they may stand trial. Notably absent from the final batch of releases were Prince Turki bin Abdullah, the king?s nephew, and dismissed Economy Minister Adel Fakieh. Their fates remain unknown. Two bankers said assets or corporate ownership transfers had not yet been made for the last batch of released detainees and any handovers could be shielded from public view for some time through what one banker described as ?very clever lawyers and accountants.? Critics have described the anti-corruption campaign as a shakedown and power move by the Crown Prince. The government denies this. As workers removed security barriers at the Ritz-Carlton in anticipation of the hotel?s reopening in mid-February, recently checked-out ?guests? reconnected with loved ones. Pictures shared on social media showed Alwaleed visiting an ill nephew in hospital. On Twitter, people urged him to continue his charitable activities.

US puts Hamas chief Haniya on terror blacklist

WASHINGTON: The United States on Wednesday put the head of Palestinian movement Hamas, Ismail Haniya, on its terror blacklist and slapped sanctions on him -- a move sure to raise tensions, after Washington recognised Jerusalem as Israel?s capital. The 55-year-old Haniya, who was named head of Hamas in May 2017, represents the more pragmatic wing of the movement, which said the US move would not deter the group?s "resistance." "Haniya has close links with Hamas? military wing and has been a proponent of armed struggle, including against civilians," the State Department said in a statement. "He has reportedly been involved in terrorist attacks against Israeli citizens. Hamas has been responsible for an estimated 17 American lives killed in terrorist attacks." Haniya is now on the US Treasury sanctions blacklist, which freezes any US-based assets he may have and bans any US person or company from doing business with him. Hamas -- which has controlled the Gaza Strip for more than a decade -- had already been on the US terror blacklist since 1997. The US government also slapped sanctions on Harakat al-Sabireen -- a small splinter group that operates in Gaza -- and two other groups active in Egypt: Liwa al-Thawra and HASM. "These designations target key terrorist groups and leaders, who are threatening the stability of the Middle East, undermining the peace process, and attacking our allies Egypt and Israel," Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said in a statement. "Today?s actions are an important step in denying them the resources they need to plan and carry out their terrorist activities." In Gaza, Hamas said: "The American decision to include Haniya on the terrorist list is a failed attempt to pressure the resistance. "This decision will not deter us from continuing the resistance option to expel the occupation." Hamas has fought three wars with Israel since 2008. 'Every red line' Haniya replaced Khaled Meshaal, who now lives in Doha in exile, atop the Hamas movement. Unlike Meshaal, Haniya will remain in the Gaza Strip. Also known as Abu Abed, Haniya was born in Gaza?s Shati refugee camp in January 1963 to parents who fled when Israel was created in 1948. Hamas has frequently highlighted his modest background as a counterpoint to officials within president Mahmud Abbas? Palestinian Authority. Relations between Washington and the Palestinians have been severely strained since US President Donald Trump broke with decades of policy in December to name Jerusalem as Israel?s capital. The Hamas leader voiced rage over the decision, saying it "crosses every red line," and called for a new intifada, or uprising. "This Zionist policy supported by the US cannot be confronted unless we ignite a new intifada," Haniya said. Days of demonstrations in the Palestinian territories and other parts of the Middle East ensued. Washington says the new embassy will open in Jerusalem in 2019.

Putin orders alternative Olympic Games for banned athletes

MOSCOW: Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered his government to organise an alternative competition for Russian athletes banned from the Winter Olympics over a doping scandal, his spokesman said on Wednesday. The Kremlin leader also told athletes who are due to compete in Pyeongchang next month, as independent competitors, that he was sorry officials had failed to protect them from the fallout. "Forgive us for not having been able to shield you from this," Putin said during a reception at his residence outside Moscow on Wednesday, adding that the scandal had contributed to "very difficult conditions" for athletes ahead of the Games. "You should focus on the result and on your victory," he added. "Nothing should distract you from this." "I wish you luck," Putin said, adding he wanted them to be "courageous". He said the exclusion of many Russian sportsmen and women over doping was "strange", reiterating his pledge to support those who have been prevented from taking part. The International Olympic Committee banned Russia from the 2018 Winter Olympics after a report on a vast, Moscow-backed doping scheme in previous Games. Only 169 of Russia's athletes have been allowed to take part in the Games, under a neutral flag as an "Olympic Athlete from Russia". 'Russian Olympics'? Speaking to reporters, Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the president had tasked ministers with organising an alternative competition for those banned from the 2018 Games. Putin "reminded the cabinet of the decision to organise a competition for those of our athletes who had not been allowed to take part in the Olympic Games," Russian news agencies quoted Peskov as saying. The Kremlin spokesman added that athletes who win at the alternative event would receive compensation equal to what Moscow normally awards Olympic medalists. Pro-Kremlin newspaper Izvestiya reported this week that the alternative competition for banned athletes would take place in the Black Sea resort of Sochi which hosted the 2014 Winter Olympic Games. Speaking to the athletes, Putin reiterated his complaint that the ban against Russia was politically motivated. "For us certain things are truly strange," he said. At the same time, he admitted Russian officials might have been guilty of "oversight, mistakes" and a lack of proper attention to "things that are very important and key in modern sport." He said he hoped that international sporting organisations would not become annexes of "certain countries", a thinly-veiled jab at the United States. Last year, Putin claimed United States was behind Russian sports doping allegations to influence March presidential elections widely expected to extend the Russian leader´s Kremlin term until 2024. Putin has consistently denied the Russian state has run a vast doping scheme, instead blaming individual sporting officials. 'Greatest sporting nation' The athletes thanked Putin for his support, with hockey player Pavel Datsyuk presenting the Kremlin chief with a jersey featuring the slogan "Russia in my heart" and players´ signatures. Luger Roman Repilov for his part said the Russian athletes should emerge winners at Pyeongchang to show the world that "Russia is the greatest sporting nation." "We should prove to them all that we are Russians, that we are strong, that those who are banning our teammates will not be able to break us," Repilov said. "We should pull ourselves together and go there and win." Snowborder Alena Zavarzina said the exclusion of other Russians was utterly unfair. "I believe that what happened with our colleagues who cannot go to these Games is an egregious injustice," she said. "We will fight and do everything in our power to bring home the medals that we deserve." The 23rd Winter Olympics will open in Pyeongchang, South Korea, on February 9, featuring 102 events in 15 sports and athletes from all over the world.

Train carrying US lawmakers hits garbage truck, injuries reported

Scene of incident. -Courtesy Rep. Greg Walden Twitter WASHINGTON: A train carrying Republican US lawmakers to a retreat in West Virginia collided with a garbage truck Wednesday, with some members of Congress saying there were injuries in the accident. "The train carrying GOP members to our retreat had a collision, but Rebecca and I are both okay," congressman Bradley Byrne said on Twitter, referring to his wife. "Security and doctors on board are helping secure the scene and treat injuries." Local authorities had yet to release statements about the accident, and the nature of the injuries was not known. It was not clear in particular if any members of Congress were among those injured. Paul Ryan's office said the Republican House speaker was "fine." Vice President Mike Pence - the keynote speaker at the three-day retreat west of the US capital - was to fly in later in the day, and was not on the train. House Republican Greg Walden tweeted a photograph of the scene, showing people standing off the train tracks next to a badly damaged truck, with debris strewn on the ground. "We're fine, but our train hit a garbage truck. Members with medical training are assisting the drivers of the truck," Walden said. "The train hit a garbage truck, they're asking for doctors on the trains to help," said the Twitter feed of congressman Roger Marshall, who is also a licensed physician. "Right now Dr. Marshall is helping people who are injured." Republican members of the House of Representatives and the Senate left Washington earlier Wednesday bound for the historic Greenbrier resort in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, for their annual retreat.

SC summons Dr Samar Mubarakmand over non-production of locally-made stents

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan Wednesday took notice of non-production of locally-made coronary stents for cardiac patients in the country, despite issuance of Rs35 million by the government and summoned Pakistani scientist Dr Samar Mubarakmand to appear before the bench. A three-member bench, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar, resumed the hearing of the suo motu case pertaining to unregistered stents in the country. A coronary stent is a tube-shaped device placed in the coronary arteries that supply blood to the heart, to keep the arteries open in the treatment of coronary heart disease. The chief justice, during the hearing, remarked that they have come across some reports suggesting that Dr Samar was issued a whopping Rs350 million in 2004 for the production of coronary stents. Pakistani cardiac stents to hit market by June, SC informed At least 72 stent companies have been registered in Pakistan, the additional attorney general told the apex court But despite the payment, the production of cardiac stent never began locally, Justice Nisar said, inquiring as to where was this amount spent then? The apex court ordered the scientist to appear before it on February 3, besides seeking a reply from the federal government. On Monday, the apex court was informed that the production of locally-made cardiac stents will be completed by June this year. During Monday's proceedings, the chief justice had remarked: ?When will we hear the good tidings that Pakistan has completed production of its own stents?? To which, heart expert Dr Murtaza shared that Pakistan will be producing its own cardiac stents by June 2018. ?I am happy that Pakistani stents will make their way into the market soon. Try your best that the stents come in the market before June,? the chief justice had remarked. Justice Nisar had also questioned the respondent regarding the price of the stent, to which Dr Murtaza had replied that it would be sold for Rs15,000.

Kerosene oil witnessed an increase of Rs5.94 per litre and will now be sold for Rs70.26 per litre. The revised prices will take effect from February 1.

South Yemen separatists pin down govt in facto capital

A Yemeni tribesman from the Popular Resistance Committees keeps watch at Nihm district in Yemen´s northeastern province of Marib. -AFP1 ADEN: Yemeni ministers were holed up in Aden's presidential palace on Wednesday after separatist forces seized effective control of the southern port city, dealing another blow to the country´s embattled government. Pro-separatist forces backed by the UAE known as the "security belt" fanned out across the city - the country's de facto capital - after three days of fighting that left 38 people dead. The United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia have backed the beleaguered government of President Abedrabbo Mansour Hadi since intervening against Houthi rebels in Yemen's civil war in March 2015. But the Arab allies, whose military coalition was launched to roll back rebel gains and restore Yemen's "legitimate" government to power in Sanaa, have not intervened to prop up Hadi against his separatist rivals. The coalition has instead urged the separatists to exercise restraint and called on the government to weigh up the demands of its rivals. While Yemen's president resides in the Saudi capital, the infighting in the anti-Huthi camp has left Prime Minister Ahmed bin Dagher and a number of senior government figures holed up in the Aden presidential palace. A high-ranking military source said the separatists had also taken over the bin Dagher´s office chief overnight. By Wednesday morning, the clashes appeared to subside. A refuge 'shattered' The United Nations raised alarm bells Wednesday over the impact of the violent standoff on more than 40,000 Yemenis recently displaced to Aden, and now cut off from aid. "UNHCR emergency aid distributions and humanitarian assessments planned this week for vulnerable, displaced Yemenis have now been postponed and UNHCR humanitarian cargo remains at Aden port unable to be released," the UN refugee agency (UNHCR) said via Twitter. "We are also particularly concerned for those newly displaced in Aden who have fled other areas in Yemen. More than 40,000 people fled to Aden and nearby governorates since December and we anticipate more displacement as people continue to flee from hostilities in the west coast." At least 38 people have been killed and 222 wounded in Aden since Sunday, according to the International Committee of the Red Cross. The separatists, who for months have pushed for the reinstatement of South Yemen as an independent country, now control most of the city. Since 2015, Aden had served as a refuge for tens of thousands of Yemenis fleeing conflict in their hometowns across the country, as the Saudi-backed government battled Huthi rebels allied with Iran. A coalition offensive along the Red Sea coast has sent new waves of displaced to the government´s de facto capital in recent weeks. Save the Children on Tuesday said it was also suspending work in Aden out of fear for the safety of its staff in what the agency called the "shattered" former refuge. Demand for self-rule Separatists, mainly based in Aden, have gained traction since April in their push for self-rule, demanding the reinstatement of South Yemen under a self-proclaimed Southern Transitional Council. Before the fighting broke out, the STC had called on Hadi to make changes to his government, accusing it of corruption and mismanagement. The clashes have sparked fears of a repeat of South Yemen's 1986 civil war, a failed socialist coup which killed thousands in just six days and helped pave the way for the 1991 unification of South and North Yemen. The separatists, who enjoy popular support and are backed by some regular troops, have rapidly gained control over all but one district in Aden since Sunday. The Saudi-led coalition said it would take "all necessary steps to restore security" in Aden but has not intervened on the government´s behalf. The UAE -- a pillar of the coalition -- has close ties to separatist leader Hani bin Breik while its "security belt" force backs the STC. A Yemeni government source said the coalition had, however, secured guarantees the separatists would not storm the presidential palace in Aden. More than 9,200 Yemenis have been killed since the coalition intervened in the war three years ago, triggering what the UN has called the world´s largest humanitarian disaster. The coalition´s original mission of rolling back Houthi gains has expanded to include fighting militant groups that have flourished during the war, and now keeping the peace between its allies on the ground.

China urges Trump to drop 'Cold War mentality'

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang. -File BEIJING: Beijing criticised the "outdated Cold War mentality" of the United States Wednesday after President Donald Trump named China among threats to American values in his State of the Union address. In recent weeks, US officials have laid the groundwork for a strategic pivot that envisions a world of renewed great power competition with the likes of Russia and China. In his State of the Union address to Congress and the nation on Tuesday, Trump described Moscow and Beijing as challenging "our interests, our economy, and our values". In Beijing Wednesday, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang said the common interests of the US and China "far outweigh our differences and disagreements". A steady relationship with the United States is "also in the interest of the whole world," Li said after meeting with British Prime Minister Theresa May. "China hopes that the United States will work with us and continue to view this relationship in a positive overall perspective," he said. But Chinese foreign ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying had more critical words. "We hope the US side can abandon the outdated Cold War mentality to work for the shared goal with China of properly managing our differences and upholding the steady development of China-US relations," she told a regular press briefing.

EU says US needed for Mideast peace but can't do alone

BRUSSELS: EU diplomatic chief Federica Mogherini urged US reengagement in the Middle East peace process Wednesday after President Donald Trump's controversial recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital. "This is a difficult moment," she said after an extraordinary meeting of international donors in Brussels to discuss the Trump administration´s decision to cut aid to the Palestinians. "If I can put it in a headline, nothing without the United States, nothing with the United states alone," she told a press conference with the visiting foreign minister of Norway, a key donor. The Palestinians have said the United States can no longer mediate in the Middle East conflict following Trump's decision on Jerusalem, which they also consider to be their capital. The row threatens to derail the Trump administration's peace plan, which had been set to be presented to both sides later this year. The EU is the biggest donor to the Palestinians and has spoken out against Trump's Jerusalem decision. "For the United States' plan, we'll wait and see. We don't have for the moment details or even a time framework, said Mogherini. "For us what counts is first and foremost that everybody recognises the United States are essential for any process to realistically have a chance to succeed. But also for our American friends to understand that alone it will be more difficult to achieve anything." Trump last week accused the Palestinians of disrespecting the US and threatened to withhold hundreds of millions of dollars in aid until they returned to the negotiating table. Provoking Palestinian outrage, he reaffirmed his Jerusalem decision and said the disputed city had been taken "off the table", despite having previously said his recognition did not preclude later negotiations on its borders.

Only parliament has authority to amend disqualification law: Aitzaz Ahsan

PPP Senator Aitzaz Ahsan. Photo: Geo News file ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Senator Aitzaz Ahsan has said that only the parliament has the authority to amend legislature pertaining to the lifetime disqualification of lawmakers ?Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz's (PML-N) Maryam group wants to pressure the court to the extent that it receives a verdict in its favour,? he said while talking to the media in Islamabad on Wednesday. He was referring to the political turmoil within the party, which has reportedly split into two factions, after the July 28 verdict of the Panama Papers case that disqualified then-prime minister Nawaz Sharif from holding public office. ?The pressure tactics [are being used] to get a verdict from the court that will reduce the disqualification tenure, which is infinite and for-life, to the existing assembly,? said the senator. ?But the Supreme Court cannot determine this term, only the parliament has the authority to do so,? said Ahsan.

Turkey ramps up Syria incursion despite criticism

A Turkish military convoy transports soldiers to the border. -AFP AFRIN: Clashes raged between Turkish-backed forces and Kurdish militia in Syria's Afrin region on Wednesday, as wounded civilians fled intense Turkish air strikes. Turkey and allied Syrian rebels have pressed on with Operation Olive Branch in the Kurdish-controlled Afrin enclave despite mounting international concern and reports of rising civilian casualties. On Wednesday, French President Emmanuel Macron warned he would have a "real problem" with Turkey's intervention if it turned into a full-blown "invasion." An AFP correspondent in Afrin heard warplanes flying overhead, and Kurdish officials said rocket fire on the town wounded 12 civilians. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said heavy bombardment and Turkish air strikes were accompanying ground fighting around Jandairis and Rajo, two areas to the west of Afrin near the Turkish border. The Britain-based war monitor reported that Turkish-backed forces had seized control of the border village of Shinkal to the northwest. "Turkish forces dispatched new military reinforcements overnight, including fighters and equipment, to Shinkal in an attempt to consolidate their control over several points and support attacking forces," said Observatory head Rami Abdel Rahman. Turkey and its Syria rebel allies launched Operation Olive Branch against the Kurdish People´s Protection Units (YPG), on January 20. The group has been a key ally of Washington in its fight against Daesh but Ankara regards it as an offshoot of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), which has waged a deadly insurgency in southeastern Turkey since 1984. Ankara has denied hitting civilians in its military operations, but hospitals in Afrin say they are receiving civilian casualties on a daily basis. 'The whole world knows' At region's main hospital late on Tuesday, a heartbroken family was seen carrying out the body of their father, killed in shelling several days earlier. A sobbing woman touched her head to the casket. Nearby, an elderly man was yelling to anyone who would listen. He had survived heavy Turkish bombardment of his neighbourhood, but 12 of his family members - including two infant grandchildren - had not. "The whole world knows what's happening here. Everyone knows that civilians are dying," he screamed. "A four-month-old and a nine-month-old - as if we're the Daesh of Afrin," he said. The Observatory says the Turkish operation has left 67 civilians dead so far, 20 of them children. Turkey strongly rejects the figures, saying it is doing everything it can to avoid civilian casualties. Defence Minister Nurettin Canikli said on Tuesday that the Turkish army and its rebel allies "have not harmed any civilian" during the operation. Turkish teen killed On Wednesday, the Turkish army said it destroyed 22 YPG targets overnight. Since launching the assault, Turkey and rebel allies have captured 11 villages and the strategic Barsaya hill, according to the Observatory. Barsaya overlooks both the rebel-held Syrian town of Azaz, and Kilis across the border in Turkey. Advancing fighters were facing "fierce resistance from YPG fighters holed up in the mountains, in spite of Turkey's massive firepower," said Abdel Rahman. The Observatory said that 85 YPG fighters and 81 pro-Ankara rebels had been killed in the fighting so far. Turkey says seven of its soldiers have been killed. On Wednesday, rockets launched from Syria killed a 17-year-old girl and wounded another resident of a Turkish border town, officials said. The US and France have repeatedly expressed concern over the cross-border offensive, which Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan last week threatened to expand. Erdogan has vowed to "clean up" the YPG-held city of Manbij east of Afrin, where the US has troops as part of its operations against IS. In response, French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said on Tuesday that if the operation turned into an "occupation" of parts of Syria, it would be "totally reprehensible".

Afghan envoy expresses surprise over FO's claim of handing over terror suspects

Afghan Ambassador to Pakistan Dr Omar Zakhilwal. -File ISLAMABAD: Afghan Ambassador to Pakistan Dr Omar Zakhilwal on Wednesday expressed his surprise after Pakistan's Foreign Office claimed a day earlier that the country had handed over 27 suspected terrorists to Afghan authorities in November 2017. On Tuesday, FO spokesperson Dr Mohammad Faisal had said that Pakistan had handed over individuals, who were suspected of belonging to Tehreek-i-Taliban Afghanistan (TTA) and Haqqani Network (HN), to Afghanistan. Zakhilwal, in a post on a social media platform, said it would be it would be a huge step in the bilateral relationship between the two countries "if this indeed happens". Afghan authorities, on a regular basis, blame Pakistan after major terrorist attacks in the country and accuse Pakistan of providing safe haven to terror networks operating inside Afghanistan. Pakistan, in its defence, counters the allegations by stating that a large portion of Afghan territory is outside of Kabul's influence and control, providing adequate room to terror outfits to carry out their activities in both countries. Faisal had also said that Pakistan has continued to push any suspected TTA and HN elements to prevent them from using Pakistani soil for terrorist activity in Afghanistan. Earlier in January, the United States announced that it was suspending the transfer of military equipment and security-related funds to Pakistan. The suspension of security assistance to Islamabad came after Washington accused Pakistan of playing a ?double game? on fighting terrorism and warned Islamabad it would have to do more if it wanted to maintain US aid. US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley had also confirmed that Washington would withhold $255 million in assistance to Pakistan. Haley's statement followed an angry tweet from Trump that the US had been rewarded with ?nothing but lies and deceit? for giving Pakistan billions in aid. In August, Trump concluded a months-long review of America?s strategy to win the brutal war in Afghanistan ? now entering its 17th year ? and called for an increase in the tempo and intensity of strikes against the Taliban. The aim was to persuade some Taliban factions to enter talks with the government in Kabul. This month?s spate of bombings and Trump?s comments indicate that the end game may be further away than the White House would like.

4.3: Leverage your data with our statistic improvements

"The world’s most valuable resource is no longer oil, but data", the Economist wrote recently. Invision Community software stores a lot of important data that can be leveraged to analyze and improve upon the traffic and interactions with your site. While there are some various statistics tools in the AdminCP already, we spent some time with 4.3 enhancing and improving upon our existing reporting tools, as well as adding some new analytics tools you may find useful. Chart Filters Beginning with 4.3, any dynamically-generated charts in the AdminCP that support filtering will allow you to save those filter combinations for easier access in the future. When you open the Filters menu and toggle any individual filters, the chart will no longer immediately reload until you click out of the menu, and 'All' and 'None' quick links have been added to the filters menu to allow you to quickly toggle all filters on or off. Here is the 'Sales' chart for Commerce, for example. You will see that the interface is now tabbed. Commerce's Sales chart After opening the 'Filters' menu, selecting all of my products named 'test', and saving this filter combination as a new chart, I can quickly come back to this chart in the future. Specific filter configurations allow you to run reports easily Note that each user can save their own chart filter configurations independent of other users. Top income by customer Speaking of Commerce, we have also added a new chart to the 'Income' page, allowing you to view reports of your top customers. As with other dynamic charts, you can save filter configurations here for easy future access, and you can view the results as a table to get a raw list of your top customers' purchases. Further, we have tidied up the table views for the other existing tabs on this page. Looks like brandon is my top customer Reaction statistics We have introduced several statistic pages to expose information about the Reactions/Reputation system and how your users are interacting with it. For instance, you can now view information about usage of each of the reactions set up on your site. Yes, I'm definitely confused a lot You can also see which users give and receive the most reputation (which is the sum of their reaction points, keeping in mind that negative reactions can reduce a user's total reputation score), you can see which content on your community has the most reputation (which might prompt you to promote it to the 'Our Picks' page, promote it to social media, or otherwise continue to encourage interaction with the content), and you can see which applications reactions are given in the most. This could allow you, for instance, to focus more efforts in areas of your site to drive more activity, or to foster activity in areas you did not realize were as active as they are. Some areas of the community aren't as active as they could be Additionally, when viewing user profiles on the front end you can now see a breakdown of which reactions each user has given and received when you click the "See reputation activity" link in the left hand column. Apparently I'm not so much confused, as I am confusing Tag Usage Another useful statistic introduced with 4.3 is the ability to review tag usage on your community. As with other dynamic charts, you can filter however you like and save those filter configurations for easy future access. Not all tags are equal Trend charts for topics and posts When viewing the New Topics and New Posts charts, there are now tabs for "New Topics by Forum" and "New Posts by Forum", allowing you to see which of your forums are the most active. Additionally, you will see a trend line drawn on the chart to show you the trend (e.g. whether activity is increasing or decreasing). You can also filter which forums you wish to review, so you can compare your most active forums, the forums that are most important to your site, or the forums that need the most attention/may not be relevant, for instance. Viewing new topics by forum New posts by forum, but viewing only a subset of my most important forums Other Improvements Some other miscellaneous improvements have been introduced as well, which you may be interested in: When viewing Member Activity reports, you can now filter by group. We have also added the content count column to the table so you can quickly sort by top posters if this is relevant to the report you are running. Device usage is now also tracked (mobile, desktop, etc.) and can be viewed on a new Device Usage page. Developers: Dynamic charts now support database joins

The One Outfit Everyone Will & Should Copy From Lakmé Fashion Week: Saqib Saleem's Jumpsuit

Lakmé Fashion Week is here and we have our eyes wide open so that we don't miss out on the latest trends. Menswear is going through a major transformation, courtesy the new crop of designers and a few adventurous souls like Ranveer Singh. They are leading the way, and we are keeping a close watch. After all, they say 'What Bollywood wears today, the country wears tomorrow'. The Day 1 of Lakmé Fashion Week had one such outfit that we predict will become the new rage. Take a look. © Viral Bhayani Saqib Saleem wore this super cool jumpsuit on the ramp for the debut of Two Point Two Design And Styling House. He was a vision in grey. © Viral Bhayani Newer silhouettes are what everyone has been looking forward to as of late. It can be quite tricky, delivering that to the masses in a country like ours, given our reluctance to divert from the 'set rules' in terms of men's fashion. This jumpsuit is the perfect balance of an adventurous silhouette that is based on established cuts. © Viral Bhayani The dictionary definition of the jumpsuit is a garment incorporating trousers and a sleeved top in one piece, worn as a protective garment or uniform. It was originally worn by parachuters (hence the 'jump'). It's fascinating how something purely functional can be turned into an avant-garde outfit and placed on a fashion runway. © Viral Bhayani We are in love with the black and white stripe patched details on the pockets. The inclusion of that patched detail on the belt that gives the jumpsuit its shape is a very fashion-forward move. © Viral Bhayani It's 2018 and everything around us is changing. The same should hold true for menswear as well. Gone are the days when only women used to be at the centre of everything aesthetic and fashionable. Outfits like these are helping men reach the forefront of fashion and we hope to see more outfits like this over the next few days.

A Quick Masterclass On Instagram Flirting, Brought To You By Demi Lovato And Henry Cavill

Listen up, people! Here's a quick lesson on social media flirting so make sure to take notes. This really helpful and completely effective guide might help you get a follow from the person you just thirst followed. Today's lesson has been brought to you by singer and actor Demi Lovato, who recently tried her tactics on Superman aka Henry Cavill, and actually got a reply. Sliding into someone's DMs is way too 2017, and it's a new year so there are new rules, newer than the ones Dua Lipa gave us last year. So, let's begin. First step – Well, obviously you have to follow the object of your affection, and that's what Demi did. That's pretty innocent. Instagram Next, immediately post the hottest picture you have of yourself. Obviously, if the person you just followed opens your profile, you need to have a killer picture on top to get them interested in scrolling more. And, Demi did not waste any time. Her new picture popped up 22 seconds after she followed Henry, because you can't mess around now, you need to act quick. Instagram Good choice Demi, if that picture doesn't make people stalk your Instagram, then I don't know what will. Big news coming soon....... A post shared by Demi Lovato (@ddlovato) on Jan 29, 2018 at 7:15pm PST After that, all you have to do is like a couple of their pictures so your name pops up a few times on their notifications. Instagram This one is simple enough, but you have to still play it smart. Demi chose to like two pictures of Henry where he was with his jiu-jitsu coach. Another morning spent training with Mr Roger Gracie, a good friend and a great professor. Gotta watch out for those sneak attacks though! @rogergracie @rogergracieacademy #BJJ A post shared by Henry Cavill (@henrycavill) on Dec 15, 2017 at 4:00am PST Had a double day today! See, she's highlighting that they already have stuff in common. All of these steps happened within 30 seconds because time is key in these situations. Instagram You've done your work, now just sit back and wait for that follow, it will definitely come. And, if you followed through all the rule correctly, everything will work out perfectly and this is what you will get. Instagram He even commented and even gave her a 'thumbs up' emoji, but I believe in Demi, she will turn it into a 'heart eye' emoji soon. If they actually start dating, they will have the most millennial meeting story – “I thirst followed him and it actually worked out!” All of us right now – Okay, celebrities following each other on social media is not that big of a deal, but this particular interaction caused so much uproar on the internet, and honestly, it doesn't look coincidental. This is the type of Instagram education we all need, and we all need to step it up now. This was totally planned. Help! How Do I Get Rid Of Cum Stains?

Your room is at that stage where your hamper is full and 'that chair' has stepped up to accommodate the constantly expanding load of laundry. You need to step out for a bit and dig inside the hamper. Ah, there it is. Your favourite pair of black shorts. Just as you're about to put them on - Bam. The ugly white patch is staring at you, like a blast from the recent past. If you claim it hasn't happened to you, barring minor details, you, my friend, are blissfully ignorant or are pretending to be. © Vicky Donor Porn. Climax. Heavy breathing. Cum. Does it ring a bell? (No pun intended). Yes, that was you exploding into those shorts. © Vicky Donor Let's talk about it. Cum Stain. Semen Smear. Jizz Blotch. Call it whatever you want, the fact remains that these pesky little spots regularly find their way into your wardrobe. And the fact that the process of getting rid of them is nowhere nearly as much fun as the activity that caused them is annoying. Plus, the embarrassment it carries is otherworldly. All of our families are tired of pretending they don't understand where these stains came from TBH. © Vicky Donor Keeping mankind's collective misery in mind, we have come up with 5 sure-shot ways of getting rid of cum stains. 1. White vinegar: Vinegar is acidic in nature. The acid dissolves organic compounds and hence it can totally be used to clean those pair of shorts, that pillowcase, and that bed sheet. 2. Boric acid: Also known as Borax, this can easily be bought at your local grocery shop. Make a thick paste with a little bit of water, put it on the stain, leave it on for about half an hour and rub it off. 3. Good old detergent: Soak the garment in water with detergent, and put some directly on top of the stain and rub for a bit. It should work. But DO NOT use hot water. The heat will make the semen coagulate and make it stick to the fibres of the fabric. 4. Spot treatments: You can get a number of spot treatment compounds in the market. Put it on the stain for the prescribed time and wash it off. 5. Bleach: In case of very tricky stains on white garments, you can consider using bleach. Bleach is corrosive and not colour safe, so please be careful about bleaching colourful clothes. © Vicky Donor We also asked a couple of 'experienced' bros about how they go about removing those stale sticky smudges. Here is what they had to say: "The best way is to just 'do it' in the bathroom, you know, you have access to water so you just wash it off when it's still fresh. But sometimes you can't help it. For those scenarios, I try scraping off the solidified bit with a knife or something hard. While not damaging the fabric, of course. Then just blot the area with cold water and some paper towels. Probably add a little bit of detergent if it's too tough. Works for me!" - Robin, 26 © Vicky Donor "A sponge can be a lifesaver. You can use the one you wash your utensils with. Just make sure you wash it properly first. Put some detergent on the stain and rub the spot with a damp sponge. Damp, not wet. Most of the times I don't have to do anything else." - Rahul, 30

These Behind-The-Scenes Pictures From The Sets Of 'Padmaavat' Prove Bhansali's Brilliant Vision

After braving violent protests of the Karni Sena, pleas to ban the movie across various states, and removing an 'I' to satisfy the anger of most fringe groups; Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus finally saw the light of day on January 25th as 'Padmaavat'. © viacom 18 motion pictures While the release of the movie was far from being a smooth sail, post-release days don't seem to be that great either, given the fresh controversies brewing each day. Recently, actress Swara Bhaskar also wrote an open letter to Bhansali, pointing out the depiction of 'Jauhar' in the movie; which got certain mixed reactions from the fraternity as well as the cast of the movie. Overall too, the fans and critics seem to be divided in their opinion about the movie. © viacom 18 motion pictures However, despite the endless controversies that Bhansali and his 'Padmaavat' find themselves in, one can't take away from the fact that this movie was indeed a visual treat and a spectacular account of courage, bravery, and valor of the Rajput community. Bhansali's movies majorly focus on grandeur, opulent sets and rich detailing and this movie too shone brightly in its full beauty. And in the 2 hours 40 minutes, if you couldn't figure out the time, effort and hard work that the entire cast and crew invested in the film, then you HAVE to check these pictures out. 'Padmaavat's' production designer recently shared a series of images from the film sets. Reportedly, the sets were designed and created by Amit Ray and Subrata Chakraborty. From designing royal palaces to the makeshift tents used for war scenes, these pictures speak volumes about Bhansali's extraordinary vision. While, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor brilliantly portrayed Goddess queen Padmavati and Maharawal Ratan Singh; it was Ranveer Singh who took home the cake with his portrayal of mad king Alauddin Khilji. And this picture is proof of the amount of hard work that has gone into the making of Ratan Singh and Khilji. © BCCL The film opened to a great response at the box office and has earned nearly Rs. 110 crore in the country and approximately Rs. 212 crore globally.

Unless you are a die-hard Marvel fan, knowing everything about the MCU can be a tedious task. Well, not many knew about 'Black Panther' until he made his cinematic appearance in 'Captain America: Civil War'. He is one of the most important heroes in the Marvel stable and with just a couple of weeks away from the release of his own stand-alone superhero film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the excitement to know more about the enigmatic character is creating quite a buzz. 'Get On Up' star Chadwick Boseman will be seen playing 'Black Panther' while Michael B Jordan will be seen donning the antagonist Eric Killmonger's awesome suit. We also have Academy award winner Lupita Nyong'O playing the role of Nakia. Helmed by Ryan Coolger, the story begins after the death of T'Challa's father. He returns home to an isolated and technologically advanced nation to take his place as the rightful King of Wakanda. But a powerful enemy reappears and T'Challa's valour and loyalty is tested. The fate of his kingdom and the world is at risk. It's time for him to take charge and kick some serious ass. © Marvel But before the Monarch of Wakanda makes his official cinematic debut, a source close to the film revealed some exclusive facts to MensXP, giving us a bit of insight into one of the most anticipated Marvel films of the year. 1. The Casting Of The Dora Milaje An essential part of Black Panther lore that has been incorporated into the film are the Dora Milaje. They are the cadre of strong fierce women who serve the King and royal family as their royal force. “Not many know but the security force feature a huge range of woman from different continents. The Dora Milaje were cast from a pool of actresses, stunt women and Broadway dancers so that each individual Dora could have specialized skills that they brought to the table,” shares the source. 2. Getting A Hang Of African Style Martial Arts Another interesting fact is how the cast and stunt team practiced with African drums played by musician Jabari Exum so that their movements would have a musical quality found in many African-based martial arts. © Marvel 3. The Cast Performed Their Own Stunts The stunt and action scenes of 'Black Panther' will have hooked fans to the screen. But what's really amazing is the fact that most of the stunts were performed by the cast themselves. “The cast did the majority of the fight scenes on their own. Chadwick Boseman, has a comprehensive martial arts background, which made him perfect pick for the role. He knew and all the other actors knew what they were in for when they were asked to attend a “boot camp” to prepare them for the physically for their characters.” 4. Michael B Jordan's Makeup You wouldn't believe it but Michael B. Jordan spent more than 2 hours every day in the makeup chair. It took makeup designer Joel Harlow and three other makeup assistants who would apply 90 individually sculpted silicone moulds to his upper body. “It was one hell of a job, placing those moulds and then painting and blending the colors as per his skin tone and texture.” 5. A Mythical Land With A Real Language The on-screen spoken language of the kingdom of Wakanda is Xhosa. “It's one of the ways the makers are trying to ensure that they bring in some authenticity. A precedent had been set in Marvel Studios' 'Captain America: Civil War', when actor John Kani, who portrayed King T'Chaka, used his native accent. Chadwick Boseman has picked up the accent from him as well. Though the whole film is in English, but you will see the use of Xhosa in some places,” shared the source. © marvel 6. Warrior Falls The whole construction of the Warrior Falls set took almost four months. “The set was somewhat 120' x 75' in size and 36' tall and the entire set is 100 feet tall. The team really worked hard to match the look of the rocks in Oribi Gorge in South Africa. One will see what exactly I am taking about once they watch the film.” The Black Panther cast is leaving no stone unturned in promoting their film. The film also stars Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, with Angela Bassett, with Forest Whitaker, and Andy Serkis in vital roles. It will hit theatres on the 16th of February 2018.

Inspector General Police Sindh AD Khawaja - File photo ISLAMABAD: Sindh IGP AD Khawaja expressed inability to give a certain date of apprehending Rao Anwar who still remains at large after his arrest orders over the 'fake encounter' of a 27-year-old man in Karachi. Taliban active in 70 percent of Afghanistan, BBC study finds

The BBC estimate was significantly higher than the most recent assessment by the NATO-led coalition of the Taliban?s presence WASHINGTON: The Taliban are openly active in 70 percent of Afghanistan?s districts, fully controlling 4 percent of the country and demonstrating an open physical presence in another 66 percent, according to a BBC study published on Tuesday. The BBC estimate, which it said was based on conversations with more than 1,200 individual local sources in all districts of the South Asian country, was significantly higher than the most recent assessment by the NATO-led coalition of the Taliban?s presence. The coalition said on Tuesday that the Taliban contested or controlled only 44 percent of Afghan districts as of October 2017. Afghanistan has been reeling over the past nine days from a renewed spate of violence that is adding scrutiny to the latest, more aggressive US-backed strategy to bolster Afghan forces battling the Taliban in a 16-year-old war. A bomb hidden in an ambulance struck the city centre and killed more than 100 people, just over a week after an attack on the Hotel Intercontinental, also in Kabul, which left more than 20 people dead, including four US citizens. Although the BBC counted 399 districts in Afghanistan, the NATO-led force counted 407 districts. The reason behind the discrepancy was not immediately clear. The BBC study said the Afghan government controlled 122 districts, or about 30 percent of the country. Still, it noted that did not mean that they were free from Taliban attacks. ?Kabul and other major cities, for example, suffered major attacks - launched from adjacent areas, or by sleeper cells - during the research period, as well as before and after,? the report said. Asked about the BBC?s study, the Pentagon did not comment directly, but pointed to the latest figures by the NATO-led coalition asserting that about 56 percent of Afghanistan?s territory was under Afghan government control or influence. The study by Britain?s public broadcaster quoted a spokesman for Afghan President Ashraf Ghani playing down the findings. The BBC study also said Daesh had a presence in 30 districts, but noted it did not fully control any of them.

Hazel Keech Sets Husband Yuvraj Singh Straight After He Tried To Troll Her On Instagram

Unlike the 2014 season where he bagged Rs 14 crore or the 2015 edition that saw him netting Rs 16 crore, the recently-concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) auction was not really favourable for Yuvraj Singh. The out-of-favour Indian cricketer was on the verge of going unsold without any interest from the franchises before Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) bought him at his base price of Rs 2 crore. But, Yuvi is not the kind of cricketer who lets things like that affect him. He is a jovial character whose wit and humour has struck a chord with Indian cricket fans over the years. For a man who loves poking fun at others, Yuvraj didn't even spare his wife Hazel Keech before trolling her on social media. Padmaavat's 'Ghoomar' Is The Latest Dancing Track On The NBA Court & No, They're Not Using CGI

The much awaited release of 'Padmaavat' might have been worth the insane wait, but it didn't come easy for everyone involved in the project. The Karni Sena and the string of controversies that managed to create a web around the movie, kept on increasing by the minute. Even after many claimed that the Indian audience would not receive the movie the way the makers perceived, 'Padmaavat' is going places, literally. The latest warm reception that the movie received was during an NBA game between the Charlotte Hornets and Miami Heat, where 'Ghoomar' was chosen as the song for the dance routine during the break time. The game was on January 28th and needless to say, the dancers did a pretty good job with this track. With 'exposed' waists and everything! Recently, the makers had to cover Deepika's exposed mid-riff using special effects after protesters complained that a queen could not be shown dancing like that. Have to give the 'Padmaavat' team full points for the incredible CGI though. The movie is creating records in terms of numbers and appreciation that is pouring in from all corners of the world. Ranveer Singh as 'Khilji' in particular is winning accolades. In case you still haven't watched the movie yet, the trailer might provoke you to go watch the stellar performances. Art is always appreciated and watching the lovely ladies dancing to this track at an NBA game is proof that language has got nothing to do with dancing!

12 Style Lessons Every Indian Man Should Learn From Mr World Rohit Khandelwal

India is the leading country (along with Venezuela) when it comes to winning Miss World titles. Both countries have bagged 6 of those. However, India's achievement is nowhere close, even remotely so, when it comes to the other end of the gender spectrum. For the longest time, we had been waiting for the Mr World title. We had almost given up, till it finally happened, courtesy a certain Mr Rohit Khandelwal. Rohit rose up to the occasion like a phoenix and became the first Asian man to win the Mr World title in 2016. Not only is he a good-looking man (duh!), he also clearly knows how to stay on top of his game with his impeccable sense of style. Here are 12 style lessons that every Indian man should learn from Rohit Khandelwal: 1. Pairing your blue denim shorts (or jeans) with a denim shirt of the same colour will make you look like a cover model. This is one look you have to try out even if you're not fond of co-ords. © Instagram/rohit_khandelwal77 2. Don't be scared of bold prints. Big, bold prints can look absolutely flattering and manly if you know how to style it properly. The way Rohit has paired up his flamboyant shirt with those ripped jeans is spot on. © Instagram/rohit_khandelwal77 3.Want to look fly AF at work meetings? Embrace the wonder that is Polo t-shirts. Tuck it in a well-fitting pair of chinos and pair it with a belt that goes with the shoes you are wearing. Thank us later. © Instagram/rohit_khandelwal77 4. Experiment with patterns and prints, even with traditional attire. Don't hold back. We can't stop obsessing over this dense paisley print Achkan Rohit is wearing here. Inspiring? Hell yeah. © Instagram/rohit_khandelwal77 5. Invest in several pairs of cuffed joggers. Why? Because they are comfortable, versatile, and look ultra stylish. A must-have for your wardrobe. © Instagram/rohit_khandelwal77 6. Did you know how to transform a 3 piece suit into a dressy but not over-the-top ensemble using only 2 of its pieces? Here you go. © Instagram/rohit_khandelwal77 7. Keep a fedora handy for when you want to look classy but don't want to put in a lot of effort. Dress down and put it on. Voila! © Instagram/rohit_khandelwal77 8. Nehru jackets should be a staple when it comes to Indian ethnic wear. Plain white kurta pyjama, a vibrant pocket square, and a pair of smart oxfords - easy, yet stunning. © Instagram/rohit_khandelwal77 9. There is no such thing as 'too many colours' when you understand colour palettes. Exhibit A. Also, a stylish bag can give your style game a whole new dimension. © Instagram/rohit_khandelwal77 10. Are you still labouring under the misconception that formal wear has to be boring? Rohit is wearing the most basic formals ever - white shirt and black pants. Except there is absolutely othing 'basic' about how he is carrying it off. Get a good fit and pay attention to the minute details such as button patterns for an alluring look. © Instagram/rohit_khandelwal77 11. Don't shy away from experimenting with silhouettes. It can be something as basic as wearing an Achkan or a Bandhgala with the buttons undone. Given you pair it up with the right owers (we love the checked pants Rohit is wearing here), it will surely turn heads. © Instagram/rohit_khandelwal77 12. A piece of advice we have been broadcasting for a long time but mostly in vain: Wear pink. Embrace this pretty colour, boys. It looks great on everyone.Try it, you will love it. © Instagram/rohit_khandelwal77

Dwayne 'Champion' Bravo Posts Special Message For Chennai Super Kings Fans

Arguably one of the best all-rounders in limited-overs cricket, Dwayne Bravo rendered his all-round services to various franchises across the globe. While his explosive batting is capable of accelerating the innings for any team, the deceiving variations in his bowling are an absolute nightmare for an opposition batsman. From Trinbago Knight Riders to Essex, Lahore Qalandars to Melbourne Renegades, Bravo is a T20 franchise's delight with his multiple skills of power-packed batting and bowling during death overs. Thus, it was no surprise to see the Trinidadian snapped up by his old team Chennai Super Kings (CSK) during the IPL auction. The 34-year-old was retained by CSK for a staggering Rs 6.40 crore after the franchise exercised their Right to Match (RTM) card during the crazy bidding war in the auction. While Chennai were clearly adamant on bringing their old war horse back into the team, Bravo, himself, expressed his happiness on rejoining his old employers. Dear Super Fans, thank you for all the patience, prayers, roars and whistles in the past two days! Just like all our matches, it was a nail-biting finish. Presenting the #PrideOf18. I am happy, blessed and honoured to be retained by the Chennai Super Kings,” he added. Bravo, who played for Chennai from 2011 till 2015 in the IPL, amassed 706 runs and claimed 79 scalps. The right-hander also termed his CSK return as a big moment that a lot of individuals were waiting for. “The return of CSK to the IPL is a big one, a special one, a moment that a lot of people were waiting for,” Bravo said. © BCCL “Chennai Super Kings are one of the most successful franchises in IPL history. Definitely, IPL without Chennai Super Kings, it didn't have the same impact it had in the previous years,” he added. On Dhoni leading CSK again, Bravo said: "“I think the return of CSK, you know, Dhoni again representing Chennai Super Kings, being the leader, the fan base, the fan following that we have in India and outside of India, they mean a lot". Apart from Bravo, CSK also managed to secure the services of the South African paceman Lungi Ngidi and the West Indies star was all praise for his new teammate. “A young, talented fast bowler… I am very happy to be in the same team with him. I am looking forward to embracing him when he comes to represent the best franchise in the world,” Bravo said.

With 149 Fours & 67 Sixes, Mumbai's Tanishq Gavate Smashes 1045 Runs In A Local Cricket Match

Back in 2016, when Mumbai teenager Pranav Dhanawade scripted history by becoming the first cricketer ever to notch up a four-figure score by smashing an unbeaten 1,009 in an inter-school tournament, few would've expected his mammoth record to be overshadowed anytime soon. But, 30 January, another young talent took everyone by surprise with his unbelievable batting masterclass. Tanishq Gavate sent shockwaves across the cricket fraternity after smashing an unbeaten 1,045 in a local cricket tournament in neighbouring Navi Mumbai. © Twitter Playing for the Yashwantrao Chavan XI, the 13-year-old hammered a staggering 149 fours and 67 sixes in his 515-ball innings that spanned over two-days play in the semi-final of the Under-14 Navi Mumbai Shield invitational cricket tournament. The youngster, with his wide array of strokes, cut a sorry figure for the bowlers of Yashwantrao Chavan English Medium School team. An astounding 1ï¸â£0ï¸â£4ï¸â£5ï¸â£ runs by young Tanishq Gavate! ð¥ The 13 year old represented Yashwantrao Chavan XI in the #U14 tournament and smashed 1ï¸â£4ï¸â£9ï¸â£ boundaries and 6ï¸â£7ï¸â£ sixes! #HallaBol#Cricket pic.twitter.com/QpLE4RxSCc — Rajasthan Royals (@rajasthanroyals) January 31, 2018 “Previously he used to bat at one or two down but he requested me to allow him to open the innings. After testing him in the nets with the new ball and in few practice matches, I was confident that he can do well,” his coach Manish was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times. Cruised through the nervous 900s I'm told — Change the date [-0-] (@ShaneC2) January 31, 2018 Tanishq was happy that he stayed on the crease for such a long time and hopes that Tuesday's innings gives a boost to his career. “I like to open as it gives me time to play long innings and I managed to do so on Tuesday. Hopefully, I can continue in same way from here on,” said the eighth standard student, who had also scored unbeaten 316 in an earlier match. Mind blowing.... Keep it up..... — Perdip kumar (@PerdipKumar) January 31, 2018 But, despite his batting masterclass, Tanishq failed to eclipse Dhanawade's mammoth record since the tournament he was playing in was not recognised by the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA). While he might have failed to etch his name in the history books, Tanishq's batting masterclass is undeniably worthy of applause and promises bigger and greater things in the future.

From A Skinny Accountant To A Competitive Bodybuilder, Ralton D'Souza Expressed Himself Through Fitness

If you asked me about myself, I would probably tell you that I express myself through sports. I grew up playing cricket and football. Back then, I really didn't know what fitness was. Just being active was how I was wired. As time went by, at the age of 16, I discovered weight training. I went to the gym with an ideal bodybuilder's physique in mind. I failed and got back up and this went on for a long time. Soon, I realized that it's an art and not a sprint. Day after day, I studied more and put in the required work under the bar. Seeing my body change and grow was so satisfying that I got hooked instantly. One of the most important things to achieving a great physique is consistent. You have to understand that fitness is a lifestyle. A kickass physique is earned! I Quit My Job As An Accountant When I quit my job as an accountant and took up fitness as a full-time career, it was pretty scary. There were ups and downs, fear and negative thoughts but I just kept pushing. At this point, it's all about being patient and giving my best effort. That very same year, I entered 4 competitions and placed very high. My presence was certainly felt and I did leave a mark. All that hard work finally paid off. A skinny 16-year-old was now competing against the country's finest athletes. Now, I run my own business as an online fitness consultant and an entrepreneur. Competing At 21 At the age of 21, I did my first bodybuilding competition. Using all the knowledge and experience I had gained over the years, I gave the stage my all. Since I was an accountant, it was no joke balancing my work and passion. Soon after the competition, I realized that fitness is what I actually love and what makes me happy. All I could see myself doing was helping others achieve their fitness goals. This is what changed my life and made me who I am today- a proud competitive bodybuilder and a coach. How Success Came I still train hard six days a week with a well-balanced diet. The focus on compound movements still remains pivotal, with a good mix of high intensity and volume. Each session lasts about 90 min but believe me, I do some serious damage. This is how I have trained over the years. As long as you eat right and train consistently, you will get there, it's all about being patient. Now, what really made me fall in love with the journey was the fact that I had convinced myself that if I put in the work, I can literally do anything. I set my mind on a goal and chased it. Everyone is different and each one of us has our own definition of success and happiness. Bodybuilding Made Me Confident Years went by and weight training became an integral part of my life. Even after all this time, I enjoy this lifestyle. I am organized, disciplined and apply the same principles of bodybuilding to every aspect of my life. It gives me the courage to step out of my comfort zone and to do things which most people feel are ridiculous and impossible. That's exactly what motivates me!

Nepal's 'Shane Warne' keen to soak up IPL experience

An overnight hero: Nepal leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane KATHMANDU: Nepal leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane says his breakthrough Indian Premier League deal will give him the chance to play alongside the cricketing elite and promote the sport back at home. Lamichhane, 17, became an overnight hero after becoming Nepal´s first cricketer to enter the lucrative IPL, with Delhi Daredevils picking him in a mega auction Sunday. His name was splashed across front pages of national newspapers and thousands took to social media to express their excitement. Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba tweeted, "Not just me, but the entire nation is proud of you." Lamichhane, who has been likened to spin legend Shane Warne, made the meteoric rise to the IPL just two years after being selected for Nepal´s national team. "If you get the chance to play in the IPL, lots of players will be there who are very experienced guys and I think I will learn a lot," Lamichhane, the son of a railway worker, told AFP in Dubai. Lamichhane´s Delhi teammates will include Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell and pacemen Trent Boult (New Zealand) and Kagiso Rabada (South Africa), among others. The teenager is expected to make Nepal more of a force in international cricket. They are the only South Asian nation not to have Test, one-day or T20 status, barring the isolated kingdom of Bhutan. Lamichhane credits Nepal´s senior players with popularising the sport among young people in a football-mad country. "The senior guys have done something for the new guys who are coming right now into the teams, and their contributions have made our country a cricket-crazy nation," he said. Lamichhane´s talent was first noticed by former Nepal national cricket coach Pubudu Dassanayake, who spotted him at a training camp in 2015. The spin-bowling sensation then attracted the attention of Australian great Michael Clarke, when he played alongside the former captain in a Hong Kong Twenty20 Blitz tournament in 2016. Clarke invited Lamichhane to train at his cricket academy in Sydney, an experience the teenager described as unforgettable. "Playing with a player like Michael Clarke is such as a big thing. It was amazing and sharing a dressing room with him and getting experience from him, it was something like a dream come true," he said. ´New heights´ Lamichhane is currently in Dubai training with Nepal´s national team ahead of the World Cricket League Division Two tournament in Namibia next month. Nepal must finish in the top two to take part in the World Cup qualifiers in Zimbabwe in March. It has never qualified for the World Cup. Lamichhane in action The sport´s development has been hampered by the country´s turbulent recent history, including a 1996-2006 civil war, and endemic corruption. The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) was struck off by the sport´s global governing body in 2016 for political interference. Lamichhane´s base price contract of $31,499 may be small fry in the cash-rich IPL, which shelled out a total of $70 million for 169 players during the two-day auction. But back home, many hope his success will revive the country´s scandal-tainted domestic cricket. The controversy had hampered Nepali cricket and young talented players were losing out, said CAN´s Chumbi Lama. "(Lamichhane) is a young talented cricketer and an impressive leg spinner," Lama said. " If he gets good guidance his future is very bright. He will lead Nepali cricket to new heights."

ICC probes UAE league after farcical dismissals go viral

The ICC building DUBAI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) is investigating a private Twenty20 league in the United Arab Emirates, the sport´s global governing body has said, after footage of some farcical dismissals went viral on social media. A match in the Ajman All Stars League, which is not sanctioned by the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB), saw several batsmen appear to throw their wickets in bizarre fashion, by running themselves out or getting stumped without trying to return to the crease, even when the wicketkeeper fumbled. Screenshot from the Ajman All Stars League match "There is currently an ICC Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) investigation underway in relation to the Ajman All Stars League held recently in Ajman, UAE," ACU general manager Alex Marshall said in a statement. "The ICC Anti-Corruption Unit works to uphold integrity in cricket and in keeping with that role, we are talking to players and officials and will not make any further comment at this time." The Ajman Cricket Council (ACC) has suspended all matches at the Ajman Oval. "... we found the Ajman Oval breaching the code more than once and hence we have suspended their affiliation," ACC secretary general Shaji Ul Mulk told ESPNcricinfo. "We have a zero tolerance policy towards corruption and are cooperating with the ICC in their ongoing investigation."

Klopp relieved as Liverpool bounce back

Photo: Liverpool FC Twitter HUDDERSFIELD, UK: Jurgen Klopp believes Liverpool have got their season "back on track" after a 3-0 victory over Huddersfield Town. The Reds had stuttered recently with a defeat to Premier League strugglers Swansea City and an FA Cup exit at the hands of West Bromwich Albion. However, Klopp´s side clinically sealed the points at the John Smith´s Stadium on Tuesday thanks to first-half goals from Emre Can and Roberto Firmino before Mohamed Salah converted a late penalty. Liverpool consolidated their grip on fourth place and have a five-point cushion on fifth-placed Tottenham, who face Manchester United on Wednesday, in the race to qualify for the Champions League. "Coming back on track is the most important thing," Klopp said. "And now we have a few days to prepare for another difficult game against Tottenham. "That was the reaction we needed to show. It was not brilliant, not the best game we have played so far but it was deserved. "I think the best thing we did apart from scoring was our counter-pressing and defending situations when Huddersfield won the ball. "We had more moments than three goals but it was difficult to play because they defended well. "It was not a brilliant performance, but it was very mature and exactly what we needed at the right moment. "I would love to come here again because it is a game where we don´t have to fly and can get here by bus! So I hope they stay in the league." Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson made his first appearance since December and Klopp praised the midfielder´s performance on his return. "Jordan Henderson is a very good footballer," Klopp explained. "He is an England national player and our skipper and maybe the skipper of England. "How can he not be a brilliant player if he´s at Liverpool? If someone does not see his value what can I do? I am happy that he is back." No Ings move Klopp also noted the professionalism shown by Liverpool midfielder Can, who is out of contract at the end of the season. Juventus have been strongly linked with the Germany international, but Klopp revealed he has no qualms about selecting Can despite the impasse over a new deal. "Sometimes you want to keep a player and sometimes you want to sell a player," he said. "As long as people behave like Emre does and delivers, that´s all you want. "If he goes we shake hands and say goodbye and if he stays we shake hands and say hello again." Klopp said he is not expecting a busy end to the transfer window and claimed there was no way that striker Danny Ings would be allowed to leave. "No chance is Ings on the market, only if I am unconscious!" he added. Huddersfield manager David Wagner insisted his players will not lose heart despite the defeat. The Terriers are winless in seven games and only a point above the Premier League relegation zone. Wagner said: "I see effort, I see commitment and attitude. I see togetherness and everything you need. "The confidence is not at the highest point if you have a lot of defeats, but the good thing is we don´t like or enjoy this situation and period where we don´t collect points. "However, we are not surprised and it is not something we haven´t expected so that makes it possible to manage. "This means we lift our head now, prepare ourselves for Manchester United. A game at Old Trafford which one year ago nobody thought would happen."

Facebook bans ads for cryptocurrencies

Fraud is common in the world of red hot digital currencies such as bitcoin WASHINGTON: Facebook says it is banning all ads related to cryptocurrencies in an effort to fight scams. The social media giant said it is barring ads for "financial products and services that are frequently associated with misleading or deceptive promotional practices, such as binary options, initial coin offerings and cryptocurrency." Initial coin offerings or ICOs are a way for companies to raise funds by selling investors cryptographic assets. Fraud is common in the world of red hot digital currencies such as bitcoin. This week, for instance, the US Securities and Exchange Commission shut down an initial coin offering by a Texas company called AriseBank. AriseBank was accused of relying on celebrity endorsers such as boxer Evander Holyfield and social media to cheat investors out of $600 million of its goal of $1 billion for a currency it called "AriseCoin." In a blog post announcing the news, Facebook product management director Rob Leathern hinted that Facebook may modify the new policy at some point to allow bona fide crypto-related businesses to advertise again. "We want people to continue to discover and learn about new products and services through Facebook ads without fear of scams or deception," Leathern wrote. "That said, there are many companies who are advertising binary options, ICOs and cryptocurrencies that are not currently operating in good faith." "This policy is intentionally broad while we work to better detect deceptive and misleading advertising practices, and enforcement will begin to ramp up across our platforms including Facebook, Audience Network and Instagram. We will revisit this policy and how we enforce it as our signals improve," he added.

The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S Is Expected To Launch Next Month With Top Of The Line Specifications

Just a few months ago, Xiaomi launched their uber sexy Mi Mix 2 and it looks like the company is already looking to releasing its next version. The Mi Mix 2 was one of our favourite smartphones last year and you can read our review here. It had great form factor with a ceramic/glass back and it also sported a true bezel-less screen. © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla The successor is expected to be called Mi Mix 2S and what the name suggests is that the overall design of the smartphone is not going to change anytime soon. According to a new rumour out of China, the Mi Mix 2S is expected to sport Qualcomm's latest top-of-the-line Snapdragon 845 SoC. Xiaomi is currently looking to announce the smartphone before MWC kicks off in Barcelona. There's a high chance that the Mi Mix 2s might be the first smartphone with Qualcomm's latest chipset. © Twitter Earlier, it was expected that Samsung's S9 and S9+ may the be the first smartphone with the chipset, but it looks like Xiaomi wants to steal the thunder right from under them. Samsung uses Qualcomm's latest chipset for certain regions and Xiaomi may be able to claim the 'world's first' title if they announce the smartphone sooner. © Youtube The Mi Mix 2s is not expected to change much in terms of design, however, we can expect it to pack a punch just like its predecessor. It is expected to have an edge-to-edge screen and could feature dual cameras for better picture quality. The smartphone is expected to use the new Sony IMX363 sensor, which is a much-improved sensor when compared to the Mi Mix 2. The smartphone is supposedly going to be unveiled in a few weeks and we will know more about the device once it's been made official. Source: GizmpChina

In Today's WTF News: A Park In Coimbatore Will Only Allow People With Marriage Certificates

We all are quite familiar with the fact, that most parks in India have pretty much lost their value as a recreational spot for families and children. What earlier used to be regarded as an everyday spot for playing and even for school picnics, has now turned into a place dreaded by adults and children alike. While most people pretend to be cool with PDA, couples spending some 'quality time' can be attributed as a major reason as to why no one likes to visit public parks anymore. However, one such park in Coimbatore has pretty much crossed all limits to stop couples and even bachelors from entering. Tamil Nadu Agricultural University in Coimbatore has banned the entry of unmarried couples in its ever-so-famous and beautiful Botanical Garden. © Facebook Bachelors with even female friends cannot enter the premises anymore. A staff member has also been quoted saying that only couples who show their marriage certificates or are accompanied by children can be allowed. The reason for the same was explained by M Kannan, professor and head of the floriculture department at TNAU. © Agritech TNAU He said in an interview, "Fed-up with the couples using the park as their hiding and recreation area, the university has come up with this rule. We initially tried to put up rules and regulations such as seeking their ID proofs and asking details such as phone numbers. Despite all that, couples continued to behave inappropriately causing a lot of discomfort to other visitors. Students and families have also complained many times.” © Facebook Besides taking this extreme step, an entry register is also maintained in the park where all visitors are 'requested to' enter their personal details - like name, address and phone number. There is also an information board that requests visitors to 'maintain their dignity' at the park. What's more is that even the school and college students who used to visit the park for educational trips are not allowed anymore which has obviously led to the outrage. © Facebook While we understand the concern that the university authorities have, we do have to say that this step is a little too extreme. Asking someone to show their marriage certificate is downright absurd and we now think, the requirement of Aadhaar card to enter public places doesn't seem too far-fetched anymore.
