It is said that between 1982 and 1989, Ross smuggled several metric tons of cocaine. His work areas included the states of North Carolina, Indiana, and Oklahoma. At the peak of his drug trafficking days, he was believed to be smuggling drugs worth 3 million dollars in one day! Ross evaded police for quite a long time using high-tech equipment. However, in 1996 he was sentenced to life imprisonment after purchasing cocaine from a federal officer during a sting operation. His sentence was reduced to 20 years. Popularly known as the 'Cocaine God Mother', Griselda had assets worth a whopping 2 billion dollars. She was a dangerous woman when it came to competition. During her smuggling days, she is known to have ordered more than 200 murders of rivals and anyone who came in her way. During the 1980s, she was heavily involved with the Miami Drug War. In 1985, she was arrested but she easily continued her business from inside the jail. She died in 2012 after she was shot in her head, twice. 3. Dawood Ibrahim © Bccl The founder of the Indian organized crime syndicate 'D Company', Dawood Ibrahim is a designated terrorist and drug mafia. After allegedly orchestrating the 1993 Mumbai Blasts, Dawood was declared as a global terrorist. It is believed that he is close to the terrorist organization of Al-Qaeda and was also in touch with Osama Bin Laden when he was alive. He is known for supplying narcotics in the US and Western Europe. In 2011, Dawood was listed as the world's third-richest drug dealer with an estimated net worth of 6.7 billion dollars. 4. One of the founders of the Medellin Cartel, Jose is credited for pioneering new routes for drug trafficking through Mexico to the United States. He had set up labs in the Gacha jungles where his workers manufactured cocaine. During his days as a drug lord, he had a net worth of over 5 billion dollars. He killed himself with a grenade when he was cornered by over 300police men in Columbia. 5. Khun Sa © Wikipedia Khun Sa or the 'Opium King' was a Chinese warlord. During the 70s and 80s, he controlled more than 90% of heroin that was smuggled from New York to Asia's Golden Triangle between Myanmar Laos and Thailand. He had a private military with over 18000 troops. Khun Sa had one of the largest heroin empires worth 5 billion dollars. In 1988, during an interview, he offered to sell all his assets to the Australian government for 400 million dollars. When they shrugged him off, he made a similar deal to the US government but to no use. Later, he surrendered himself to the Burmese officials 6. They handled about 30% of the cartel's cocaine trade. They owned a fleet of some 55 aircrafts by the year 1983. To avoid being extradited by the US government, the brothers cleverly surrendered to the Government of Columbia. They served a nominal term of 5 years each and were released. Jorge is still alive and living somewhere in Columbia. Juan died and Fabio was eventually extradited to the US. 7. During his drugging days, he had bought an entire island to run his operations! Yes, you read that right. Carlos had bought all the properties in the Bahamian Island and made it his safe haven. The island was protected by bodyguards, Dobermans, airstrips, and radars. His assets were a net worth of 2.7 billion dollars. He was sa self-proclaimed Nazi and an admirer of Adolf Hitler. He was sentenced to life after his arrest. However, in 1992, his sentence was reduced to 55 years in lieu of his testament against Manuel Noriega. 8. He had a fleet of some 22 private aircrafts and he used these jets to traffic drugs. He would seek safety in communist countries like Cuba and Russia. He even underwent several plastic surgeries to dodge the police. He died at the age of 40 on an operation table. 10. Known to have killed more than a thousand people, Pablo was among the most feared mafias of all time. He had assets worth 30 billion dollars and an estimated 20 billion dollars were buried in different parts of Columbia! They say that at one point Pablo was smuggling some 70-80 tons of cocaine every month. Later, Pablo acquired a 'Robinhood image' by building churches, schools, and hospitals. He was shot to death in 1993.
