Pietersen's 48 powers Gladiators to six-wicket win

geo_embedgallery SHARJAH: Kevin Pietersen's 48-run knock powered Quetta Gladiators to a six-wicket victory over Islamabad United in the first match of the Sharjah leg of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) on Wednesday. Successive timely wickets by Quetta bowlers restricted Islamabad United to 134 runs in the first innings of the match. But the team faced an early setback with the wickets of Shane Watson and Umar Amin. A no-ball from Rumman Raees saved Watson from dismissal after he was caught by Misbahul Haq. However, the opener conceded his wicket to fast bowler Steven Finn, giving an easy catch to Raees over mid-wicket. An inside edge on a short of a length delivery bowled Umar Amin. Later in the game, out-of-form Asad Shafiq failed to click in this game of the tournament as well as he failed to hit the ball, which went to hit the stumps on the last ball of the fifth over. Fast bowler Raees was taken off the field as he faced a knee injury during the game. Pietersen departed on the 15.2 overs of the game, after giving an easy catch on the ball of Steven Finn. First Innings geo_embedgallery Fast bowler Anwar Ali gave an early breakthrough to Quetta after taking down United's opener Chadwick Walton for eight runs in his second over of the match. With an absolute gem of a delivery, Rahat Ali bowled Asif Ali (6) on his very first ball of the match. Spinner Hasan Khan's arm ball ended Luke Ronchi's (43) time on the crease. Skipper Misbah-ul-Haq walked back to the dugout as he was caught in the deep by Mahmudullah on the bowl of Shane Watson. On a strike rate of 88, Misbah scored 22 runs. Both the teams have won one match and lost one match so far. Islamabad United collapsed against Peshawar Zalmi by 34 runs but rallied to defeat Multan Sultans by 5 wickets in their next match. Quetta Gladiators lost their first match to Karachi Kings by 19 runs but then proceeded to outclass Lahore Qalandars by 9 wickets to regain momentum.

Cabinet allows immediate balloting for 50pc quota of Hajj pilgrims for 2018

ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet on Wednesday allowed the Ministry of Religious Affairs to immediately carry out Hajj balloting for 50 per cent of the total quota of Hajj pilgrims for 2018. The cabinet took the decision after reviewing current state of legal proceedings and the need to communicate maximum number of Hajj pilgrims to Saudi authorities before March 3, for finalising flight schedules. The secretary of Ministry of Religious Affairs briefed the meeting, presided over by Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, on progress of arrangements regarding 2018 Hajj operation. The cabinet also directed the ministry to request Islamabad High Court for early finalisation of legal proceedings as the Supreme Court referred all the pending petitions to the IHC in the last hearing. The meeting considered an inquiry report on corruption pertaining to Kachhi Canal project. It decided to constitute a committee headed by the minister for water resources for suggesting implementation mechanism of the findings of the report. The signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination and American Institute of Pakistan Studies was also aprroved at Wednesday's meeting, with a proviso that performance report of the institute for last five years be presented before the cabinet. The meeting approved applicability of Islamabad Rent Restriction Ordinance, 2001 to Zone V of Islamabad and directed Interior Ministry to review the law. It also directed Interior Ministry to place the case before the next meeting of the cabinet for applicability of law in the remaining areas of Islamabad. A committee for this purpose was also constituted under Special Assistant to PM on Law Barrister Zafarullah Khan, with secretary interior, CDA chairman, Islamabad chief commissioner and other stakeholders. Rejecting a proposal for increase in the prices of CNICs of specified categories, the cabinet directed Ministry of Interior and NADRA chairman to review the proposal for the purpose of rationalisation of the cost of CNICs. Regarding the appointment of chairman of Evacuee Trust Property Board in compliance of the Supreme Court's orders, the meeting directed Ministry of Religious Affairs to expedite framing of relevant rules in the light of directions of the apex court. In the meantime, the cabinet approved a proposal for grant of an additional charge of the ETPB to Muhammad Ashraf Lanjaar, senior joint secretary of the ministry until a permanent appointment is made. The meeting also approved appointment of S.A. Manan as chairman of board of management of Pakistan State Oil Company Limited (PSOCL), besides giving a go-ahead for execution of various development schemes prepared by the cabinet committee.

Free clinic opens for Yemenis impoverished by war

SANAA: Volunteer doctors are offering free medical services for a week at a clinic in the Yemeni capital Sanaa to treat people impoverished by a war which has killed thousands and wrecked the economy. The initiative, dubbed ?Breeze of Hope,? is the first by a group of nurses and doctors to conduct electrocardiograms, x-rays and other procedures that Sanaa residents cannot afford. Yemen has been hit by three years of civil war between the internationally recognised government backed by a Saudi-led military coalition and the Houthi movement which controls the capital. Key infrastructure has been bombed by Saudi-led air strikes while imports have been constricted by a near-blockade aimed at cutting off weapons supplies to the Houthis. Amid a dispute between the government and the Houthis over who should receive public sector salaries and as the local currency has shed much of its value, many employees -- including some medical staff -- have not received wages in over a year. For them, a chance at free healthcare is a rare boon. ?I came here because I don?t have the means or ability to go to a hospital,? said one patient, Mohammed Fuad. ?Our financial situation is difficult, and there are no salaries because of the war. That?s why we?re obliged to come to this charitable medical center.? Mohammed al-Aqabi, the head of the initiative, said the help provided rare hope amid the gloom of war. ?The main purpose of running this center is to address the country?s catastrophic circumstances of war and destruction,? he said. The organisers say they hope to repeat the initiative elsewhere in the capital and in other areas of the country soon.

Four soldiers martyred in unprovoked Indian firing across LoC The army troops were working on communication lines in Jandrot and Kotli sectors when they were attacked The Army's media wing said a "befitting response" was given to the latest episode of Indian agression. Earlier this month, the Army destroyed an Indian post after it targetted a minor in Jajot village. In a separate incident in January, four Army soldiers were martyred when Indian forces opened fire. Frequent violations India frequently opens unprovoked fire across the LoC, resulting in the martyrdom of civilians and army officials. In the line of duty: The uniformed martyrs of 2017 Geo.tv recalls the ultimate sacrifice by police and army officials in the outgoing year The FO has said that in 2018, Indian forces carried out over 400 ceasefire violations along the LoC and the Working Boundary, resulting in 18 civilians being martyred while 68 were injured. ´The Looming Tower´ brings 9/11 intel failures to TV

The show traces the rising threat of Al-Qaeda and puts a rarified CIA pressing for pre-emptive military action on a collision course with the law enforcement muscle of the FBI NEW YORK: Published 12 years ago, best-selling and Pulitzer-prize winning book "The Looming Tower" remains a definitive account of US intelligence failures that littered the path to the September 11, 2001 attacks. On Wednesday it airs as a television mini-series, narrating the power struggle between the CIA and the FBI, whose refusal to cooperate may have prevented the world´s greatest superpower from failing to stop 19 Al-Qaeda hijackers training at US flight schools and smashing passenger jets into New York and Washington, killing nearly 3,000 people. The 10 episodes of roughly 50 minutes each are being released in the United States on Hulu from Wednesday, and will be available on Amazon Prime from March 1 in other English-speaking countries and from March 9 for everyone else. It traces the rising threat of Al-Qaeda and puts a rarified CIA pressing for pre-emptive military action on a collision course with the law enforcement muscle of the FBI, which together failed to avert the world´s deadliest terror attack, ushering in wars still being fought today. "The Looming Tower" the mini-series begins in 1998, shortly before the Al-Qaeda bombings of the US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania killed 224 people, and closes on September 11, 2001, that date seared into global infamy. The drama romps from Afghanistan to London, from Nairobi to Washington, spliced with archive footage of Osama bin Laden, the Saudi millionaire outcast who founded Al-Qaeda. Shooting took place across three continents and six countries, with the bulk of filming in New York, Morocco and Johannesburg, in not altogether convincing efforts to portray the Hindu Kush or an Al-Qaeda camp in Afghanistan. Woven in are period features from the late 1990s. The Monica Lewinsky scandal engulfing a distracted Clinton presidency is a constant backdrop. Look out for chunky cell phones, green-screen computers and sexist dialogue in the workplace. Lawrence Wright, the New Yorker journalist who wrote the book, shares an executive producing credit with Dan Futterman and Oscar-winning documentary maker Alex Gibney. Early reviews are largely positive, predicting it will be Hulu´s second major success after "The Handmaid´s Tale" and tipped for future awards. ´Least of America´s problems´ Jeff Daniels, 63, plays the lead role of John O´Neill, the charismatic ladies man and bull-in-a-china-shop agent who heads up the FBI´s counter-terrorism unit in New York, with a side-line in mistresses, bunches of flowers and cheap one-liners. Not to mention a wife and two daughters. His foil is Martin Schmidt, the arrogant and aloof head of the CIA´s Al-Qaeda unit played by Peter Sarsgaard, who believes the agency alone has the smarts to halt Al-Qaeda and who defies presidential orders to withhold intelligence from the FBI. The other starring role is real-life character Ali Soufan, a Lebanese-born Muslim and one of only eight Arabic speakers among more than 10,000 FBI agents, who goes undercover and is acted without a trace of French accent by Tahar Rahim. "I thought I knew what happened, but you read Lawrence´s books... you realize you don´t," Daniels told a recent press event in Paris. "You don´t know the real story. That´s why I took the role," he explained. The real O´Neill was killed on September 11 at the World Trade Center, where he became head of security after leaving the FBI. To prep for his role, Daniels immersed himself in Soufan and his FBI partners. "They were very helpful so I had a pretty good painting of what he was," he explained. Rahim, 36, said it was meeting the real Soufan that persuaded him to take on the role, initially thinking "it was going to be one of those terrorist roles that I get offered a lot." For many viewers, those days might feel like yesterday. But for younger audiences and those weighed down by a very different America, wearied by wars in Afghanistan and Iraq and with Donald Trump as president, it feels like another world. "This show is the least of America´s problems right now," Daniels said in Paris. "I think 9/11 happened when we had a fully staffed government, with brilliant, knowledgeable, experienced competent people and 9/11 still happened. Now you can take out brilliant, knowledgeable, experienced, competent... I don´t like our chances."

Facebook's EU regulator says WhatsApp yet to resolve data sharing issue

DUBLIN: WhatsApp has still not brought forward proposals to address EU regulators? concerns over the messaging service?s sharing of user data with parent company Facebook, Facebook?s European regulator said on Wednesday. The popular messaging service changed its privacy policy over a year ago to start sharing users? phone numbers and other information with Facebook. That drew widespread regulatory scrutiny across Europe, and WhatsApp subsequently suspended the data sharing for EU users. The Irish data protection authority (DPC) - which has jurisdiction over Facebook because the company?s European headquarters are in Dublin - said last April it hoped to reach a deal with WhatsApp on the data sharing in a matter of months. With no proposals forthcoming, the DPC said it had maintained its insistence that WhatsApp?s EU personal data not be shared with Facebook for the management of advertising campaigns and product enhancement purposes until it was satisfied there was a lawful basis for doing so. ?At this point the ball is in their court to bring forward what would be a credible process to legitimize the processing and no such options to this point have been presented to us,? Ireland?s Data Protection Commissioner Helen Dixon told Reuters in an interview. ?In fact WhatsApp reconfirmed with us recently that moving into GDPR in May, it would continue to observe the pause on processing of data for these purposes,? she said, referring to the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) which from May will require firms to give customers more control over their online information. European Union privacy regulators criticized WhatsApp in October for not resolving the concerns, a year after they first issued a warning. A spokeswoman for Facebook Ireland was not immediately available for comment. The DPC also said it was approaching a conclusion in its investigation into a massive 2014 data breach at US Internet company Yahoo - now part of Oath - that led to the theft of data from 500 million users. Yahoo, whose assets were mostly acquired by Verizon Communications Inc last year, only revealed in late 2016 that hackers had stolen the data in 2014, prompting criticism from US politicians into the delay in notifying customers. ?We?re literally in the final stages of completing that report, it?s very imminent at this stage,? Dixon said, adding the results would be given to Oath and that her office also intended to publish a summary of its findings.

Greek PM makes small changes to cabinet, keeps finance, foreign ministers

Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras arrives for a cabinet meeting in Athens, Greece, June 2, 2016. REUTERS ATHENS: Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras made limited changes to his cabinet on Wednesday after a minister bowed out in a housing allowance row, keeping his finance minister months before the country emerges from a bailout program in August. Tsipras switched some ministers around in an effort to improve government work and boost his party?s sagging popularity ratings, and also brought in a few new faces. He gave Deputy Prime Minister Yannis Dragassakis the Economy and Development portfolio after Greek American economist Dimitri Papadimitriou quit his post this week in response to public anger over his wife?s use of a housing allowance. Tsipras also replaced Migration Minister Yannis Mouzalas, who handled a massive influx of refugees fleeing Syria and Iraq in late 2015 and early 2016 with Dimitris Vitsas, who was alternate defense minister. Fotis Kouvelis, former leader of the small Democratic Left party, was appointed Alternate Defence Minister. Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos and Alternate Finance Minister George Chouliarakis were left unchanged. Greece is currently being vetted by its foreign creditors on reform compliance. Tsipras also kept Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias, engaged in delicate talks with Skopje over a name dispute with its northern neighbor most countries call Macedonia but Greece calls FYROM. Aspiring to make Greece a key player in the wider region, the leftist-led government has started talks with neighboring countries aiming to settle long-standing disputes. Tsipras swept to power in 2015 beating the conservatives, on a promise to end austerity and crack down on corruption. But his agreement to a third international bailout with more austerity measures attached, after years of belt-tightening, have eroded support. Papadimitriou?s wife, Rania Antonopoulou, quit her role as a junior labor minister on Monday after drawing fire for claiming a 1,000 euro a month rent allowance. She was replaced by Athanasios Iliopoulos, who worked in the division of labor inspections.

Egypt train collision kills at least 10

Rescue workers search at the wreckage after a train crash in Kom Hamada in the northern province of Beheira. -Reuters CAIRO: Two trains collided Wednesday in northern Egypt killing at least 10 people and injuring 15 others, the health ministry said, the latest in a string of deadly rail accidents in the country. The crash between a freight train and a passenger train occurred at Kom Hamada in Behaira province. Footage aired by state television showed at least two carriages had derailed in a rural stretch of land. Civilians and medics were seen removing injured passengers and carrying them to ambulances. Health ministry official Alaa Othman told state television that all casualties had been removed from the scene of the accident. The provincial governor Nadia Abdou told AFP that the crash happened at around 1045 GMT and that its cause was "unknown". She pointed out that the ministry of transport and national railways were in charge of the rail facilities in the region. The state prosecutor announced that a team of investigators had been dispatched to probe the accident. String of deadly accidents While the cause of the crash remains unclear, it comes months after 41 people died in a train collision near the coastal city of Alexandria last August. The train drivers who survived that accident were detained for questioning. That was the deadliest train accident in Egypt since a November 2013 collision between a train and a bus killed 27 people south of Cairo. It came a year after a train smashed into a bus carrying school children, killing 47 people. That accident jolted the government which ordered an investigation and sacked the transport minister and the head of the railway authority. It was blamed on a train signal operator who had fallen asleep on the job. The probe, however, did not prevent further accidents. Months later a train carrying military conscripts derailed, killing 17 people. Egyptians have long complained that the government has failed to deal with chronic transport problems, with roads as poorly maintained as railway lines. The deadliest accident on Egypt's railways dates back to 2002 when 373 people died as a fire ripped through a crowded train south of the capital. There have been many other fatal crashes on the busy rail network. In July 2008, at least 44 people died near Marsa Matruh in northwest Egypt when a runaway truck hurtled into a bus and several other vehicles waiting at a level crossing, shunting them into the path of a train. In August 2006, at least 58 Egyptians were killed and 144 injured in a collision between two trains travelling on the same track. In the wake of that crash, an Egyptian court sentenced 14 railway employees to one year in prison for neglect.

'Beast from the East' keeps Europe in deep freeze

A blizzard hits central London as temperatures remain below freezing. -AFP PARIS: Countries across Europe shut schools and rushed to shelter homeless people on Wednesday as a deadly blast of Siberian weather dubbed the "Beast from the East" kept the mercury far below zero. The death toll rose to at least 46 since Friday as a 75-year-old Dutchman went out to skate in the western village of Hank, only for the ice to crack beneath his feet. Three children and two adults also had to be rescued in similar incidents in the skating-mad Netherlands. The victims of the brutal cold also include 18 people killed in Poland, six in the Czech Republic, five in Lithuania, four each in France and Slovakia, two each in Italy, Serbia and Romania and one in Slovenia. Homeless people account for many of the dead, and cities across Europe have been racing to open emergency shelters to protect people sleeping rough. In Germany, the national homeless association urged shelters to open during the day and not just at night. "You can die of cold during the day too," its chief Werena Rosenke warned. Authorities are also urging people to look out for elderly relatives and neighbours after a French woman in her nineties was found frozen to death outside her retirement home. In Paris, some 50 regional lawmakers were to spend Wednesday night on the streets to protest the "denial of dignity" suffered by those without roofs over their heads. And in the northern port of Calais, authorities were launching emergency plans to shelter migrants who camp out near the coast hoping to stow away on trucks bound for Britain. Schools were shut across Kosovo, western Bosnia and much of Albania, as well as in parts of Britain, Italy and Portugal. Temperatures again plunged below -20 Celsius overnight in numerous parts of Europe - even hitting -36C in Glattalp, 1,850 metres above sea level in the Swiss mountains. Ahead of a predicted thaw towards the end of the week, both Belgium and Switzerland marked their coldest nights of the winter so far. And in the usually balmy south of France, residents in Biarritz and Saint-Jean-de-Luz were heading out with skis to zoom down the snowy streets of the beach resorts. Bread-hoarding in Ireland Europe's cold snap comes as the Arctic experiences record-high temperatures, prompting scientists to ask if global warming may be playing a role in turning things upside down. Dubbed the "Siberian bear" by the Dutch and the "snow cannon" by Swedes, the icy blast has played havoc with transport networks. People walk with umbrellas down a snow-covered road near boats docked in Palavas-les-Flots, in the south of France. -AFP1 In Ireland, anxious residents were hoarding bread and milk as they braced for Thursday's arrival of a storm expected to bring the heaviest snowfall in decades. "It's fair to say the people of Ferrybank and Slieverue are taking the #Beastfromtheeast serious," said one Twitter post alongside a picture of empty supermarket shelves. The National Emergency Coordination Committee has issued a red alert, ordering everyone in the provinces of Munster and Leinster to stay indoors from 4pm Thursday until noon Friday. And Dublin's travellers were already facing major disruptions, with Ryanair cancelling all flights in and out of the capital for the rest of the day. 'Coldest job in Austria' Kosovo announced restrictions on electricity usage lasting between one and three hours, due to a surge in power consumption mirrored across Europe as people turn up the thermostat. Even professionals are feeling the chill. In Amstetten in northwest Austria which is hosting international championships for ice stock - a sport similar to curling - organisers moved the opening ceremony inside due to the cold. Austrians were reserving particular sympathy for Ludwig Rasser and Norbert Daxbacher, two employees at the Sonnblick weather station 3,109 metres above sea level. Handed the honour of having the "coldest job in Austria" by the Oesterreich tabloid, Rasser and Daxbacher are charged with heading out to measure the temperature three times a day. The process takes an hour in temperatures of -32C - which "with the windchill feels like -60," Rasser said.

?Pack of lies?: PTI rebuts claims Imran?s Bani Gala residence NOC is fake

[embed_video1 url=http://ift.tt/2BWznGJ style=center] ISLAMABAD: Amir Kyani, president of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf?s (PTI) North Punjab chapter, on Wednesday rebutted a former local government official?s statement that the Bara Kahu union council did not issue the no-objection certificate (NOC) for party chief Imran Khan?s Bani Gala residence. ?Statements by the additional deputy commissioner and secretary are a pack of lies,? he said in a video message. Former secretary of the union council in Bara Kahu, Mohammad Umar, claimed in the Supreme Court today that the NOC submitted by Imran in the court related to his Bana Gala residence was never issued by the local authority. Kyani termed Umar?s claims a pack of lies and said everything, from buying land to construction of the Bani Gala residence, was done as per law. "No permission was needed for the mansion?s construction but even then Imran directed me to acquire a written order," claimed the PTI leader. Kyani claimed he and his father visited the UC office of Bara Kahu to acquire the NOC and he collected the documents personally. He further added that he will present himself in court to record his statement if he is summoned. Slamming ?political jesters? for cropping up mischief against Imran, Kayani said these people have faced embarrassment in courts previously too. Mohammad Umar, in his reply to the apex court, claimed the NOC dates back to 2003, when he was posted as a secretary at the union council office. The NOC is a computerised copy whereas the union council had no computer systems and work was done manually, Umar elaborated. Umar claimed the blueprint for the residence was also fake, saying the union council had asked Imran to submit a blueprint for a go-ahead but it was never submitted. The Capital Development Authority (CDA) had declared the construction of the PTI chairman's house illegal in a hearing on May 9, 2017. Imran?s Bani Gala residence NOC and blueprint fake, says former union council official CDA had declared the construction of the PTI chairman's house illegal in a hearing on May 9, 2017 The apex court had ordered CDA to verify the documents submitted by the PTI chairman. A report was submitted by CDA in Supreme Court which stated that the authority has declared 122 buildings illegal which included Imran Khan?s Bani Gala residence. It said that the construction was against the regulations of Islamabad Capital Territory. In a hearing on Februrary 13, the Supreme Court summoned property documents of the Bani Gala residence of from the CDA. Chief Justice Saqib Nisar warned that the residential structures in Bani Gala would be demolished if they are not as per the laws and regulations of CDA. "Building regulations must be abided by," the chief justice remarked during the hearing on illegal structures in Bani Gala. Imran's counsel Babar Awan maintained that CDA has no authority over private properties, adding that the constructions around Rawal Dam are illegal.

West pursuing agenda against Islam, says Maulana Fazlur Rehman

PESHAWAR: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (Fazl) leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman said on Wednesday that West is pursuing its agenda to eradicate Islam. Speaking in the party's youth convention here, he said that the institutions have to change their line of thinking, adding that the establishment and bureaucracy should know that it is the United States? agenda to eliminate Islam. He said that the influence of immoral civilizations must be halted and the Pakistani youth are not a product of a depraved society. The JUI-F leader told youth to be ready to take stern decisions. "There is a reason behind our silence. The seminaries are ready to come under national ambit when the rulers come under Islamic ambit," he said. Taking a jibe at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, he said that the provincial government gives Rs 30,000 to singers, but have promised only Rs 10,000 to the mosque clerics. "The clerics have rejected their money," he said. The JUI-F leader said that it was the US desire to minimise the role of religious seminaries post 9/11. He criticized Darul Uloom Jamia Haqqania Akora Khattak for taking monetary grants from the KP government. "It is commonly known that people give money to get tickets to contest elections, its interesting to see that the Darul Ullom Haqqania are getting both, ticket and money. They are now not eligible to request donations from the people."

We have done whatever is humanly possible on fighting the menace of terrorism and Allah has rewarded our efforts by restoring peace in the country. I am confident that No 28 Sqn would create the desired strategic balance in a most befitting manner. We want to maintain peace with honour in the region, especially during these uncertain and challenging times. I want to assure the nation that despite all odds, our resolve shall remain unshakable and we shall defend our motherland against any aerial aggression," he added. Virat Kohli & Faf Du Plessis Set A New Bar After Donating Money For Drought-Hit Cape Town

India and South Africa might have been at loggerheads with each other on the field in Cape Town but after India clinched the T20I series with a seven-run win, there was one thing that brought both the teams together. The current water crisis in Cape Town compelled the teams to do their bit to help the city. © Twitter After the third and last T20I of the three-match series, Indian captain Virat Kohli and his South African counterpart Faf du Plessis donated Rs. 5.5 Lakh to the Gift of the Givers Foundation, which is the largest disaster relief organization of the African continent. The donated money will be used to drill boreholes as well as to supply bottled water to organizations in need. #CSAnews Proteas and Indian teams make donation to #SaveWater and #EveryDropCounts campaigns in Cape Town Water Crisis ... https://t.co/PhZM6YKm4Y pic.twitter.com/hpOjA6iT4A — Cricket South Africa (@OfficialCSA) February 27, 2018 Du Plessis explained the purpose behind this noble gesture, "Both teams had first-hand experience of the Water Crisis in Cape Town and, having chatted to Virat, we decided to get our teams to sign some jerseys which we auctioned off with the funds raised going to assist the Cape Town Water Crisis. We also wanted to create awareness and hope that other organizations and sports codes follow in our direction.” In case you aren't aware, since last month, Cape Town residents have been asked to restrict their water consumption just 50 litres of water per day. Mayor Patricia de Lille also fears that the city has "reached a point of no return" and if the current conditions prevail the city will soon run out of all water. By creating awareness of the drought, we are playing our part in highlighting the drought so people can see the seriousness of what is taking place in the Mother City.” This small humanitarian act has allowed both the teams to win over a million hearts and gain more respect, not just as cricketers but as human beings.

What If 'Stranger Things' Had Internet? Here's What Would've Happened & The Results Are Hilarious

Virtual reality is certainly a fearsome thing to behold, and by now the entire planet is convinced that anything crazy can happen over the Internet. However, the web world is still a bit less complex and insane when we compare it to popular Netflix sci-fi series 'Stranger Things'. Well, this show doesn't need any introduction because everyone has been talking about it. With two seasons already out, this show has garnered quite a massive following. © Netflix The universe of 'Stranger Things' is beyond one's imagination, but what if we could club this sci-fi world with our online world? Wouldn't the results be pretty interesting? While Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas, and Eleven are having an interesting time in the 80's, the team at Plusnet decided to get creative and re-imagined their world in the time of the Internet. And we've got to admit, the results are beyond hilarious. Setting up a Dungeons and Dragons session would just have been so damn easy. Squad WhatsApp! (c) Plusnet Definitely, Eleven would love Facebook and would even start a petition online against those lab experiments. I bet we all have a friend like her in our group. © Plusnet © Plusnet Plus everyone will just know where she is...so everyone gets what they want. Life is EASY! © Plusnet Searching for Barbara would definitely be easier and the range would be wider. Cheers to the power of Social Media. © Plusnet A concerned Nancy would totally start an online movement on Twitter, or at least we can imagine her drunk tweeting. © Plusnet TBH, Dustin would have a huge fan following on Snapchat. Ain't he already looking so cute with that filter? © Plusnet Dustin would just be all over the Internet, updating us about his life! © Plusnet © Plusnet And Joyce would do everything to keep a tab on Will. Well, we don't really blame her as Will has a habit to wander here and there and worry people. © Plusnet Steve definitely would have been a social media influencer. © Plusnet And finally finding an answer to what is a mind flayer, why this is happening and so many more questions, Google would have answered it all! © Plusnet Agreed that this was fun. But somewhere we still feel that the reason why 'Stranger Things' works perfectly is that, at the time, people were more connected physically and life didn't revolve around the Internet. Somehow, it reminds us of our golden childhood, when we loved exploring with our friends and playing board games. However, do let us know that if 'Stranger Things' had Internet, how would your favourite character use the web and who would have the most followers?

Indian fans watch as the funeral cortege of the late Bollywood actress Sridevi Kapoor passes through Mumbai. -AFP MUMBAI: Thousands of heartbroken fans and Bollywood actors paid their last respects to Indian superstar Sridevi Kapoor Wednesday following her shock death from accidental drowning in a Dubai hotel bathtub aged just 54. Kailash Kher didn?t know about Zayn Malik till he sang ?Teri Deewani?

British singer of Pakistani origin and former band member of ?One Direction? simply does not need any introduction, he can arguably be called a global music icon for youth. Interestingly, Indian classical singer Kailash Kher would not agree with that, in fact, he DID NOT even know who Zayn is! (no exaggeration!) So, the young musician had an idea to cover Kailash Kher?s mega-hit song ?Teri Deewani? and shared it on social media. The rendition was an instant hit, garnering more than 799k likes on Instagram and thousands of comments. When Kailash was asked his opinion regarding Zayn Malik?s cover, the classical singer said he had no idea who the young singer was until someone sent him the video saying: ?Look, who sang your song?. ?I was like, ?Kaun hai bhai? (who is he?)? And then I went on to his Instagram and saw that he has covered the song and has over 27 million followers. That?s when I learnt about him and came to know that he is a big pop star in the West, who is a huge icon,? stated a Hindustan Times report, quoting Kher. While Kher was still trying to acquaint himself with the young global star, who usually shares renditions of famous hits on his social media, Zayn posted another rendition of Kher?s songs, Allah Ke Bande. But this time, Kailash Kher was ready! The Bollywood singer gave his precious feedback on the star?s attempt to dabble in sub-continental Sufi music. ?For Zayn Malik, I would suggest... we have our digital academy (Kailash Kher Academy of Learning Arts) coming up soon, where there will be a course dedicated to all our compositions, which include Teri Deewani and other superhits... [so] to know and learn the correct codes and nuances. It will help him improve his skills on such songs,? opined Kailash, according to the publication. ?Ermm, maybe Zayn did not anticipate such a sass-laden response from the maestro himself!) It wasn?t only that, Kailash did appreciate British-Pakistani star?s cover, saying that he was ?humbled and honoured? that his music has struck a chord globally too.

Hashmi asked those gathered around him, "Whom did I say anything against? When did I take the name of the judiciary? When did I take the names of chacha, baba and rehmats?" Hashmi said they could send him to prison, shoot him or kill him but his respect and shame were in the hands of the Almighty, who had made him respectful today. 7 Reasons Why We Should Not Play Holi With Our Four-Legged Friends

India is going to celebrate one of its favourite festivals soon and we genuinely can't contain our enthusiasm. The festival of colour is right around the corner and while we're gearing up to make it even more epic than usual, there are some dos and don'ts we need to keep in mind. The four-legged community definitely detests celebrating Holi with you because let's face it, they're not immune to the chemical induced gulaal! So, if you have pets at home or are a pet parent to a few streeties around your colony, here are some precautions you can take to prevent them from the toxic colours we usually play with. © Thinkstock While watching out for your pets, it's important to remember that some breed of dogs are more susceptible to damage than the rest. Dogs and puppies with not-as-dense fur coating are more predisposed to colours affecting them toxically than dogs with furrier coats. This is because the sparsely coated region is more open to allergic reactions and other ailments due to the chemicalised Holi colour. Keep Your Pets Away From Colour Of Any Sort Most of the colours available in the market (even organic) are a combination of various toxic chemicals such as zinc, lead and mercury sulphate. Humans can still survive after ingesting Holi colour but unfortunately animals cannot! Your dog or a pet at home can lick the colour off the floor or lick its own body and fall fatally ill. It's advised to keep your pets in a secure location while you're playing with colours. Keep Your Pets Away From Water Balloons Water balloons can cause grave injury to your pet's eyes and besides that, the impact of a water balloon is not very pleasant. If the balloon does hit your pet's eye, wash the eye with clean water. You can keep some eye wipes handy for your dog or cat, in case they get hit. If the irritation persists, it's time to take them to the vet. © Thinkstock Keep Your Pets Away From Little Children Little kids love playing with pets, and a little too much during Holi. They will try and put gulaal on them or play with water balloons. If the child is an eager beaver, then it's advised to keep him or her away from your pet! Take Your Pet Out For A Walk At Wee Hours On the day of the festival, take your pet out for a walk early in the morning, before people come out to play. This way, your dog gets his/her morning walk and is not cooped up in the house all day. It's safe to take your pet out in the evening but you must make sure he or she doesn't lick the colour spread out on the roads or parks, post Holi. Use a muzzle on them if you can. © YouTube Do Not Use Anything Other Than Shampoo In case your dog gets colour on his or her coat, do not use kerosene, spirits or hair oil on their coat in order to remove the colour. A normal dog shampoo will work wonders. No Sweets Please! This is a cardinal rule! Feeding your dog or cat sweets during Holi or any other festival is a big no no! Sugar is their mortal enemy! © YouTube If The Damage Is Done, Here's What You Can Do If your pet starts vomiting, excessively salivating, displays reduced consciousness or seems a little too lethargic or becomes unknowingly aggressive then be alert. It could be because they've swallowed the colour and it's affecting their system. Rush them to the nearest vet if you see anything unusual. © YouTube

Roger Federer's Tribute To Nadal Proves There's More To A Champion Than Just Winning Trophies

For someone who was deemed dead and buried after his knee surgery in 2016, Roger Federer has come a long way to sweep top honours and praise in the tennis world. Battling all odds, Federer marked a sensational return last year. His dream run - more of a second coming - began with an unlikely victory over his biggest nemesis, Rafael Nadal on the very same court in 2017. The Spaniard had a particular hold over his Swiss counterpart and his narrative. But, in five closely-fought sets, with his backhand working like a charm again, Federer rose from the ashes. At 35, he was not supposed to win a Grand Slam - having not won one since his 2012 Wimbledon victory. He had gone for broke, only to come out with one of the most amazing triumphs of his career. And, since then, there has been no turning back for Federer. Playing with a born-again radiance and lightness ever since, Federer met Nadal four times last season, beating him in every duel. And, even when many doubted his hunger and fitness to emulate his success in 2018, the tennis icon imagined perfection and delivered history by successfully defending his Australian Open title at a jam-packed Rod Laver Arena. © Reuters Today, Federer stands tall with 20 Grand Slam titles – the most by any man in singles. The fact that, at 36, he is the oldest player to clinch the world number one spot in men's singles rankings further shows how fit he is to carry out the job. And, as one whose brand value exceeds the likes of LeBron James, Cristiano Ronaldo, Tiger Woods and Neymar, it's safe to say that Federer has nothing left to achieve. But, a true champion is known for his winning mentality, not just professionally, but also personally. With literally nothing left for him to prove, Federer now seems to be on track to redefine the aura of a memorable champion. And, he's doing so sans his racket or tennis skills. A sports icon who already won over fans with his countless performances, Federer has now set his sights on winning hearts. From his emotional speeches to honest, down-to-earth interviews, the Swiss ace has managed to punch above his weight with humility. A similar incident came to the fore recently where Federer once again left everyone speechless. © BCCL On 27 February, dressed in a tuxedo, holding two awards - Comeback of the Year and Sportsman of the Year, Federer was undeniably the perfect embodiment of a true champion at the 18th Laureus World Sports Awards ceremony. But, the Swiss ace didn't just look like a winner, but also spoke like one. For someone who won big at the coveted event, no one expected Federer or, for that matter, any other winner to thank their rivals, let alone pay a touching tribute them. But, Federer, as we all know, is a cut above the rest. In a heartfelt gesture, Federer thanked Nadal for making him a better player. “Thank you to my rival Rafa. I wanted to give a shoutout to him. He had an unbelievable year himself. We had a great battle and it's because of a guy like him, I think I'm a better player. He (Nadal) could very well be here tonight standing here with this award because he's an incredible player, incredible friend and incredible athlete," Federer said. © Reuters "All the matches that you've played against one another, they sort of connect you to some extent. When you lose against a guy 9-7 in the fifth [set] or you win 9-7 in the fifth, it leaves something special there for everyone. Whenever you walk past a guy, you know there was a match that really shaped your character maybe as well," he added. There have been winners before Federer who once ruled the tennis world. But, there is one big factor that separates Federer from other champions and it's called humility. The Swiss champion is enjoying himself on and off the court, and all of a sudden, age looks like a wrong number for him. At 36, when top tennis players have quietly walked into the sunset and stepped into coaching, commentary jobs, Federer seems way too far from that stage, carving his own niche and redefining glory.

Too Much Cardio Is Making You Skinny Fat, Weak And A Hormonal Wreck

Go to any gym across the country, you will find people doing cardio for fat loss. With their running shoes on, they hop on to the treadmill and run like they woke up in a 'Jurassic Park' sequel, with a T-Rex trying to bite their knickers off. One of the major misconceptions that plague the fitness world is that cardio helps in burning fat. Now this statement is not incorrect in its entirety. Cardio along with weight training and a caloric deficit can help you burn some extra calories, which in turn will burn some more fat, but doing cardio in isolation in the hopes of burning fat is completely wrong. The only way to lose weight is to be in a caloric deficit. Period! © Youtube Your body needs a certain amount of calories for you to maintain your current weight. If you eat more than the amount of calories needed, you'll gain weight. If you eat less, you'll lose weight. It's as simple as that! Now, when you are trying to lose weight, what you are actually trying to lose is fat and not muscle. To lose fat instead of muscle when on a caloric deficit, you need to give your muscles a reason to stay on your frame, and that reason is provided by weight training. Weight training stimulates your muscles and along with optimum protein intake, you'll retain muscle mass when in a deficit. But Then How Does Cardio Help In Fat Loss? We have established above that being in a calorie deficit is the only way to lose fat. But the caloric deficit doesn't have to come entirely from your diet. This is where cardio comes in. Adding some cardio can help you burn more calories, which can be very helpful when you are on a diet and can't cut anymore calories. For example - If your total deficit is 500 calories, 400 of those calories can be cut from your diet and the remaining 100 can be burned doing cardio. This way you can eat more food while keeping your deficit intact. How much cardio should you do? You should start with a maximum of 1/3rd of the total time you put into weight training per week. If you put in an hour of weight training, you should do a 20 min cardio session. The timing or frequency of cardio can be changed according to the goals .Too much cardio has shown to be a hindrance to muscle growth and the body's hormonal activities. A frequency of 3-5 days per week is usually good enough. However this frequency can be adjusted as different people have different goals. Cardio should be implemented to suit a person's goals, not keeping in mind how fat he is. So, a competitive athlete who has to step on stage might have to do 6-7 days of cardio, whereas a regular person needs about 3 days. © CyclingNews Try to maintain a balance of both weight training and cardio in your routine but never overdo cardio to accelerate fat loss. It just doesn't happen that way. Nutrition and training is the key. Top 7 Hairstyles For Men To Try In 2018

If your hair business reached god-level success last year, trust us, you don't want to live a downer in 2018. If a slight trim by the barber, meagre use of pomade (and just a damn comb) can do the trick — why shudder? You're here to look your best, score a lass and just have fun, in all the right ways. So, be it. Try these 7 hairstyles for men in 2018, that are sure to be bigger magnets than your (or daddy's) bank balance. 1. No-Comb Bangs © Viral Bhayani Much like sartorial concepts, some 'dos too, walk lines of unkempt (and lousy) environments. Think relaxed, out-of-bed, hand-settled mops, only in supreme control of your fingers. Simple conditioning, hydration, and a shampoo every third day, is probably all you'd need here. Jump out your bed, brush your teeth and get behind the wheels. But, brush your teeth. 2. Bad Boy-Good Boy © Viral Bhayani The kind of stuff for dark-tinted aviators. And with men now turning to more practical, easy and no-blow dry styles, this could be it. However, indulge in a quick comb over to the side and run your hands through. Make it a little dirty, but proceed with caution. Bad boys may have been sporting these since decades, but only they can afford 'dirty'. For your personal self, throw in some polish for a 'good boy' image. 3. Windy, One-Direction(ed) Quiff © Viral Bhayani Nothing uplifts your everyday wardrobe than a slight blow dry to a quiff. But while this process could be annoying, minimise it by going for a short hair length. Keep it at a fair distance from short and medium length strands, and blow dry into one single direction. Now, just pull them gently to the top (don't uproot them). 4. Uplifted Undercut © Viral Bhayani Easily, the most 20-something style in this list. Featuring an undercut appeal (i.e. trendy AF), spiky (don't we love them?) and a moderate length to avoid annoyance. Show affinity towards a pompadour, but bring in texture on the way and go spiky instead. Simple. Practical. Perfect for smart casuals. 5. Suit Call-Outs © Viral Bhayani As the same suggests, sport with a two-piece or three-piece suit. Blow dry, use a bristle brush, a thin comb, separate into areas and put things into place. Take a moderate amount of hair wax and slick back, while maintaining volume. You'd witness a glorious dapper, formal result. Promise. 6. Furry Flyaways © Viral Bhayani This year, if you're growing it out, let it run wild. Let the strands poke someone's eyes, graze against the skin and annoy the hell out of onlookers. See this as a playground and go bonkers. Just keep them healthy, don't comb too often and let the flyaways, fly away. 7. No-Effs Buzz Cut © Viral Bhayani If you didn't try this in 2017, you still have time. Make 2018 your year of fuss-free grooming (or no grooming?) and just stick to using details like shapes, lines, patterns for drama. Or, just go plain, simple — don't over-complicate. You deserve the laziness this 'do calls for.

Mohammad Kaif Dishes Out The Perfect Reply To Nasser Hussain's 'Bus Driver' Jibe

For the longest time, we were only hearing about Mohammad Kaif getting trolled for things like celebrating Christmas or just playing chess, but his replies always give trolls a run for their money. Even though he has retired from cricket, he still has managed to stay relevant all these years, thanks to his amazing social media presence. His wit is the highlight of his Twitter account and can easily match, if not surpass Virendra Sehwag. A post shared by Mohammad Kaif (@mohammadkaif87) on Feb 26, 2018 at 9:09am PST And yesterday, we got a first-hand account of his wit, thanks to his Twitter Q&A. Who knew that a casual session of #AskKaif would reveal a sledging incident? Let's go back to 2002, when during the NatWest Final, he was seen having a 'talk' with Yuvi when India was playing against England. A person on Twitter used the #AskKaif as an opportunity to ask him what they were actually talking about. @MohammadKaif Hi kaif, what you and Yuvi were talking during Natwest Final ? Was their any sledging from English players ?#AskKaif — Vaibhav Yelegaonkar (@catchvaibhav81) February 27, 2018 And, that fan was not disappointed as Kaif gave a very honest answer, with a witty comment. Yes, Nasser Hussain actually called me a Bus driver :) was good to take them for a ride ! https://t.co/wUeeUnowdN — Mohammad Kaif (@MohammadKaif) February 27, 2018 Finally, he revealed that Nasser Hussain, the former captain of the England, did indeed call him a 'bus driver' but it's also true that team India did take them for a ride, and that comment alone deserves a special award. And, just to refresh your memory, the ride he took the other team was at the time of this iconic win! Even if you don't remember the match, no one can ever forget this moment, it's one of the most historic wins for India. People are applauding him for his classy response. That's graceful of you to have never mentioned it before and maintaining ur dignity.. — The Dark Knight (@CapedCrusader07) February 27, 2018 Ended them with that reply. E N D E D ðððð — nikhil (@niquotein) February 28, 2018 Basically. Kaif ka khauf!!! ð — à¤Ã ¤¸Ã ¤¾ मॠà¤Ã ¤¸Ã ¤¾Ã ¤®Ã ¥! A College Student Recreates The Weasleys' Clock By Using His Family's Cell Phones

Are you a diehard Harry Potter fan? If yes, then you'll definitely relate to this masterpiece more than anyone else! Do you remember the Weasleys' clock that was located at the burrow, just outside of Devon, England? Yeah, the mighty clock that kept track of where each family member was at all times! Well, get a whiff of this magic! Trey Bagley, a senior of Duke University who majored in computer science has used his knowledge very appropriately, might I add, and re-created a real life, digital version of the same magical clock, from the Weasleys' house. Fancy that! © Trey Bagley Imgur Bagley and his family have always been really big fans of the Harry Potter franchise and haven't missed a single occasion to show their fandom off! "From midnight book releases to Halloween costumes and birthday parties to visiting the filming locations, it's been something that we could all share and get excited about," . As told by Bagley in an interview with an online publication. Since he feels his family are going their separate ways, it's essential to bind them together through digitalised magic and know where they are at all times! © Trey Bagley Imgur Bagley explained that Duke University has an Innovative Co-Lab which is basically a creativity incubator, that helps students acquire any technical resource they wish to use. He held an open class through the Innovative Co-Lab, to learn how to program something called the Particle Photon, a small and powerful microcontroller which connects to the wi-fi. "They taught us how to send it messages that would make it change the color and brightness of a single LED, which got me thinking about what else I could control with this little chip," © Trey Bagley Imgur Once Bagley had his sisters' permission, he connected all their mobile phones to a broken antique clock, and programmed them together with GPS. Bagley revealed his sisters were very hesitant at first because they weren't so keen on their parents knowing where they were at all times. But because one could program as much information as you wanted to reveal, they were eventually okay with the idea. Bagley finished working on the clock in time for Christmas, to make it one of the best gifts for his family, ever! © Trey Bagley Imgur "I got a friend to create the files needed to laser-cut wood for the clock's face, altered some code I found online, ordered a string of LED lights, and ran some tests on my phone so that messages would be sent to the Photon chip whenever the background GPS detected that I had entered or exited a radius that I had defined," A the end, Bagley helped his family set up certain rules on their phones which helped the clock become an 'always-changing conversation-piece' on their wall at home. A lot of friends and relatives have expressed their desire to buy the Weasleys' clock from Bagley but he's more keen on people building their own clock and experimenting with digitalised technology themselves! © Trey Bagley Imgur He went ahead and publicly posted the code the clocks run on, so that more and more people can recreate this marvel without finding it too complicated to work on! This clock will surely be on the 'list of things to create' for all the Indian moms out there, wont it?

Richard Branson On Why You Should Dump Your MBA & Focus On People To Be A Successful Entrepreneur

Did you know that Richard Branson, the founder of the Virgin Group, which controls more than 400 companies, dropped out of college when he was just 15-years- old? Yes, he is unusual in his own ways and clearly does not believe in a common education system for all. He did what he seemed was right for him. In a recent interview with Freakonomics Radio, he emphasized on why you should dump your MBA plans and instead learn to understand people. He believes if you can trust them, work with them, inspire them and promote them, then your team can do wonders. © Reuters Even Alibaba founder Jack Ma believes why you don't need to be the smartest person in the room to be successful, but you do need an eye for hiring and working with the smart people as a team. Here is what Richard Branson believes entrepreneurs should focus on instead. 1. Put Yourself Out Of Business And Delegate © revstreammarketing Branson says "I actually believe that people should delegate early on in their businesses, so they can start thinking about the bigger picture. Put yourself out of business, and let them get on and run your business day to day." What does this do? It gives you more time to focus on the bigger picture and builds trust among your team. 2. Understanding The Terms Net & Gross Can Be Put On Hold For Some Time. What he means to say here is that, learning all the business terminologies is not a necessity to run a successful company and he himself learned those terms when he was in his 50s. Branson says, “What matters is, you know, have you created the best company, the best airline, or the best record company? And if you have created the best, your figures will add up at the end of the year, and you'll have more money coming in than going out, and you can employ some accountants to work out the difference between net and gross.” 3. Professionalism Is Fine But Entrepreneurs Are Different © Thinkstock/Getty Images Branson believes, "They need a passion, absolute passion for what they're doing. They need an absolute belief in what they're doing. They need to be wonderful motivators for people. If you've got a happy, motivated group of people you're working with, you can achieve anything." What he means here is that MBAs are fine, but they are not always the best option to become a successful entrepreneur, as there are many other things that drive an entrepreneur. 4. Treat Your Employees Like Your Family Richard says, "If you treat your people badly, they're not going to go that extra mile when things get tough. I mean, a lot of our time we spend at work, and work should be fun. It should be enjoyable. And you should also have policies that follow through with that.” By having such policies, he means to say that you should give your employees the freedom to have some off time when they want, and flexibility of working from home as this build your trust in them.

A Beginner's Guide To Building Slabs Of Serious Muscle

If you are someone who has recently started lifting weights with an ambition to build a good physique, there is a good chance the following has happened to you. You went to the gym for 6 days a week, did all the bicep curling possible, ran miles and miles on the treadmill followed by a thousand ab crunches like your trainer suggested, and still look the same months down the line. Well, if this describes you, then this piece is right up your alley. The common fallacy that most beginners fall victim to is that they do not give importance to the basics and start following trends. There is a good chance that the person they follow either has much more training experience than a beginner does or they are trying to sell them something. © Youtube I am not writing this piece to take a dump on social media fitness celebs but rather putting a point across. A simple analogy here would be the process of constructing a house. Would it make sense to start designing the windows before you have built a house? Exactly my point here! Build a strong foundation and aesthetics will follow suit. What are the things you need to focus on? 1. Lift heavy 2. Get stronger 3. Rest 4. Do it consistently Doing hundreds of bicep curls and thousands of ab crunches are not going to aid the cause here. So, which exercises work best, you ask? COMPOUND EXERCISES Compound exercises help you become stronger and lift heavier in the long run because: 1. They stimulate more muscle per exercise 2. They engage your core and stabilizers 3. They are more functional 4. They have a carryover effect So, having a workout plan focusing more on compounds will help you lift heavy and get stronger. Compound exercises can be split into three sub-groups namely Leg exercises, Push exercises, and Pull exercises. The leg exercises will help you target the leg muscles, push exercises will help target the upper body muscles and the pull exercises help you target the upper body muscles, required for pulling. As a beginner, you are more sensitive to growth and you can build more muscle compared to someone who has been lifting for over 8-to-10 months. Therefore, it makes more sense to incorporate one compound exercise for legs, push, and pull muscles in every workout. Additional ab work can be done if desired but you can definitely skip the bicep curling as you will be engaging them in your pulling exercises. The Best Picks A few of my favored exercises for these movements are: Legs - Back squats, Deadlifts, and Bulgarian split squat. Push - Bench press, Overhead press, and Incline bench press. Pull - Pull-ups, Barbell rows, and T-Bar rows. Abs (optional) - Reverse crunches, Weighted crunches, and Planks. For a beginner, using these principles, a workout plan would look like this: Day 1 - Squats, Bench Press, Pull-ups, and (optional) Reverse Crunches. Day 2 - Rest Day 3 - Deadlifts, Overhead press, Barbell rows, and (optional) Weighted crunches. Day 4 - Rest Day 5 - Bulgarian split squats, Incline bench press, T-Bar rows, and (optional) Planks. Day 6 -> Rest Day 7 -> Rest Day 8 -> Repeat You can do 3 to 4 sets of these exercises for 8 to 10 reps. The rest period between these sets can be anywhere between 3 to 5+ minutes if needed. Do not follow the 'rest is for losers' mentality and get back to the next set in 30 seconds. © YouTube Two reasons: 1. These are not bicep curls! You are engaging more muscles per exercise. Your body will take time to recover. 2. The entire purpose of intensity will be defeated as shorter rest periods will screw you over by killing intensity. Rest days will ensure you are not building a lot of fatigue and that all your sessions can be done with maximum intensity rather than it feeling like a punishment. This workout will not only help you grow better but your strength gains will go through the roof as you are building a strong foundation as opposed to doing a hundred curls and a thousand crunches. Go ahead, plug in this plan, and start building some serious muscle. Author bio: Pratik Thakkar is the co-founder and director of GetSetGo Fitness, an online fitness company. Samsung is all set to launch the two smartphones in India on March 6th as the invites were sent out for the launch event earlier today. © Twitter It is worth noting that Samsung is launching the two devices a week after the global launch and is probably the fastest introduction of a flagship device by the company. We already noted earlier this week that Samsung has opened its pre-orders on the official website and it seems like the phone will be ready to go on sale soon. © YouTube A recent leak by 91mobiles suggests the pricing of the Galaxy S9 in India and it looks like it won't be cheaper than its predecessor. The S9 is expected to start at INR 62,500 whereas the larger S9+ is expected to launch at INR 70,000. Here are the different variants and their pricing according to the leak: 64GB Galaxy S9: â¹62,500 256GB Galaxy S9: â¹71,000 64GB Galaxy S9+: â¹70,000 256GB Galaxy S9+: â¹79,000 The Galaxy S9 and S9+ look very similar to its predecessor but comes with a few changes such as the rearrangement of the fingerprint sensor. The larger S9+ features a dual camera setup and is capable of taking portrait shots which will be available on the smaller S9. Both smartphones feature variable aperture that kicks in during dark situations and helps gather more light to improve the image quality. Both smartphones are powered by Samsung's proprietary Exynos 9810 SoC. © YouTube The company has also packed their version of AR emojis with the phones. Unlike Apple, Samsung will make a similar avatar of your face using the front camera and the users can use it to make a gif and animated videos and unlike Apple, these are shareable to major social platforms.

Stokes back in form, England level series against New Zealand

Eoin Morgan and Ben Stokes struck rapid fifties, New Zealand v England, 2nd ODI, Mount Maunganui, February 28, 2018/Getty Images Ben Stokes shook off any rust following an enforced break with his 11th ODI half century as he guided England to a six-wicket win over New Zealand in the second game of their five-match series at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui on Wednesday. Stokes only made his return to international cricket in the first match in Hamilton on Sunday after an incident outside a Bristol nightclub last September led to him being charged with affray and being stood down by selectors. He entered a plea of not guilty on Feb.13. The 26-year-old scored 63 not out and combined with captain Eoin Morgan (62) in an 88-run partnership as the visitors cantered to 225 for four in 37.5 overs to level the series at 1-1. Jos Buttler finished 36 not out. Stokes also claimed two wickets and was responsible for one of New Zealand´s four runouts as the hosts were bowled out for 223 with two balls remaining. The total, however, was never enough for the powerful England batting lineup even if Jason Roy and Joe Root both failed to get into double figures. Morgan, who was dropped on 27 by wicketkeeper Tom Latham and then Henry Nicholls at midwicket on 40, brought up his 35th half century before he hit a return catch to Colin Munro. "We wanted to come back strong after the defeat in the first game," said man-of-the-match Stokes. "We thought we let ourselves down in the first game and the lads showed that with the intensity in the field. "It´s good to get out here and train and implement it in the games. I wanted to make sure I was in the end and it was a good stepping stone for the games coming up." New Zealand struggled throughout their entire innings in the face of some superb England fielding, with Roy taking two brilliant diving catches. They had slumped to 108 for six after 30 overs, despite Martin Guptill scoring 50, his 34th ODI half century. All-rounder Mitchell Santner, who hit the winning runs on Sunday, notched his first half century and finished 63 not out while Colin de Grandhomme added 38 as the lower order ensured they made the final over. "We raised our level of intensity, especially with the first 10 overs with the ball and that was backed up in the field," England captain Eoin Morgan said. "It was as good a performance we could have hoped for in the field." The third match is in Wellington on Saturday.

Indian media?s ?reprehensible? coverage of Sridevi?s death sparks outrage

Sridevi/File photo Indian media is being widely condemned for its ?gross? and ?reprehensible? coverage of Bollywood star Sridevi?s death, which has sparked a backlash on social media. Initial rumours suggested that Sridevi had suffered a cardiac arrest. A post-mortem report later said the superstar died of accidental drowning in a hotel bath in Dubai. Following the news of the actor?s death, TV channels in India began covering the tragedy relentlessly, with some news programmes stooping to new lows in their race for ratings. Some ways Indian media made a mockery of Sridevi?s death: Repugnant simulations Much of the criticism over Indian journalism has focused on their use of onscreen graphics and recreations to simulate the scene of Sridevi's death. One channel decided to recreate the scene of her death, even placing their reporter beside the bathtub plastered with 'Maut Ka Bathtub': Another channel had an anchor standing in front of a bathtub with a large glass of red wine on the side. One TV channel recreated an image of her husband, Boney Kapoor, standing over the bathtub where Sridevi, dressed in all white, lay. One news station decided to do things a little differently. Instead of using simulations, it placed a reporter inside a real bathtub to enact her death. Angered Twitter users started a hashtag #LetHerRestinPeace in response to the local media's "ghoulish" coverage of her death. Alternative conspiracy theories Some channels didn't just stop at the simulations. They actively encouraged social media users to speculate on the cause of Sridevi's death using the hashtag #SredeviDeathMystery. Instead of waiting for the official post-mortem report, 'analysts' hotly debated rumours of her consuming diet pills, having weight reduction surgery, adhering to a strict diet, and other possibilities on their prime-time shows. When the forensic report revealed that there were ?traces of alcohol? in Sridevi's blood, it was enough to feed the media frenzy. In one prime-time panel discussion, an editor of a top channel wondered whether she drank vodka, some cocktail or wine. Social media users later started trending their own hashtag #NewsKiMaut (The Death of News) to vent their anger. Unnecessary analysis Sridevi's death also attracted a lot of unnecessary analysis which made no sense. In her article on Indian media coverage of the actor's death, Barkha Dutt notes that news anchors discussed "whether a trained dancer could lose her balance in the bathtub" and "whether Indians get any of this, because, you see, we mostly use the shower ? or bathe from buckets and don?t have a ?bathtub culture.? geo_embedgallery Born Shree Amma Yanger Ayappan in the southern state of Tamil Nadu, Sridevi appeared in around 300 films and was awarded the Padma Shri ? India's fourth highest civilian award ? for her service to the film industry. Sridevi made her acting debut at the age of four and her career spanned more than four decades. She worked in India's regional Tamil-, Telugu-, and Malayalam-language films before making her Bollywood debut in 1979, becoming a national icon with a string of blockbuster films, including Chandni, Mr India, Mawali and Tohfa. Sridevi famously took a 15-year-break from the silver screen after marrying film producer Boney Kapoor but returned in 2012's hit comedy-drama English Vinglish. Her most recent film was last year's Mom.

Those who don't respect vote won't be respected in return: Nawaz

KOT MOMIN: Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif said on Wednesday that those who do not respect the people's vote will not be respected in return. Nawaz was addressing party supporters in Sargodha on a condolence visit to a party official. Moreover, Nawaz termed as rigging the decision of the Election Commission of Pakistan to not allow PML-N to contest the Senate elections from the party's platform. "This is unfair. This is what's being meted out to the largest political party in the country," he said, adding that he is not the one to back down. The PML-N chief asked supporters to vow to stand with him in his fight for Pakistan. "They're trying to kick me out, but the people are bringing me back in," he said, adding that "this is a fight for Pakistan's survival, for your rights, and we will win this fight". "After removing me as PM, they didn't stop there. They used that as a basis to remove me as PML-N president," said Nawaz, who was recently restrained by the Supreme Court from holding party office. "They don't care about the millions of voters," he remarked further. Nawaz also stated that the petitioner, Imran Khan, himself said the verdict against him was weak. "Now tell me, what is the worth of this judgment," he added. Nawaz also questioned whether the people's vote is respected in Pakistan. "I have taken the first step, now you have to walk with me," he said further while addressing the party supporters. Earlier, he once again questioned the basis of his disqualification by the Supreme Court, saying prominent lawyers disagreed with the verdict. Nawaz also termed Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi as brilliant partners.

Toys'R'Us in Britain 'winds down' after no buyer found

The UK division of troubled toy retailer Toys'R'Us is on the brink of collapse after failing to find a buyer - AFP LONDON: The troubled British arm of US retailer Toys'R'Us is winding down its activities, administrators said Wednesday, threatening up to 3,200 jobs through store closures. "Following the failure to attract a buyer for the business... administrators are conducting an orderly wind-down of the company's store portfolio," said a statement announcing the collapse into administration, or the process whereby a troubled company seeks independent financial advice regarding its future. "Whilst this process is likely to affect many Toys'R'Us staff, whether some or all of the stores will close remains to be decided," said Simon Thomas of administrators Moorfields. The British arm of Toys'R'Us narrowly avoided entering administration in December after a key creditor embraced its plan to already begin shutting stores and plug its pensions deficit. It was agreed ahead of the New Year that at least 26 of the 105 shops in Britain would close in early 2018, as the wider Toys'R'Us group faces increasing pressure from online retailers such as Amazon. Toys'R'Us filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in a US court in September, while its British branch has lost money for seven of the last eight years. The cost of operating the group's warehouse-style stores, opened in the 1980s and 1990s, has become prohibitive in recent times.
