Motorola's Most Iconic Phone May Make A Return Soon And It Will Be a Little Different Than Its Predecessor

If you bought smartphones at some point in the mid 2000s, you will definitely remember one of the most iconic phones ever released by Motorola. The Motorola RAZR was not as technologically advanced as other offerings from competitors, albeit it did have a very sexy design and form factor. © Reuters At the time, the design was revolutionary and garnered a loyal following simply because it was orgasmic to use the flip feature to make and cut calls. As it is becoming a common practice for companies to revive old iconic phones, there is a chance that Motorola may follow suit with their own RAZR phone. © Reuters Flip phones are still a thing in South Korea and China and it looks like the world may get a taste of it as well. HMD Global has already unleashed the Nokia 3310 and now the 8110 to the world, and we feel that Motorola may do the same with the RAZR phone. Having said that, the phone is going to be different from the original device as it will need to have a modern spin on it. Last year, Lenovo (parent company of Motorola) hinted at the possibility of releasing a new iteration of the RAZR, however, it was never confirmed. © YouTube We can speculate that foldable smartphones are going to be a thing in 2018/2019 and we can expect the RAZR to adopt a similar design. Smartphones with a foldable display are already in the works by companies like Samsung and it may not be too far-fetched to expect a RAZR smartphone with a similar design. © YouTube Motorola CEO Yang Yuanqing spoke to our sister website TechRadar (http://ift.tt/2F9wjco) and said, "With the new technology, particularly foldable screens, I think you will see more and more innovation on our smartphone design,” "So hopefully what you just described [the Motorola Razr brand] will be developed or realized very soon". Having said that, Motorola may face another obstacle in regards to engineering and the design of the phone. The original RAZR was extremely sleek and slim, which made it famous in the first place. A foldable smartphone may not be able to completely lay out flat like the original and we can expect it to be a bit thicker. Source: TechRadar
