Twitter Gives A Fitting Reply To Steve Wozniak For His Remarks About Creativity In India

In his recent interview, Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak mentioned that Indians measure success with academic excellence and a good job, but lack creativity. “The culture here is one of success based upon academic excellence, studying, learning, practiSing and having a good job and a great life. For upper India, not the lower. I see two Indias. That's a lot like Singapore study, study, work hard and you get an MBA, you will have a Mercedes but where is the creativity? The creativity gets left out when your behaviour is too predictable and structured, everyone is similar. Look at a small country like New Zealand, the writers, singers, athletes, it's a whole different world,” he told the interviewers Pankaj Doval and Surojit Gupta. According to Woz, India has Infosys as an example of the big tech company and even that is not very innovative. We all know how true his statements are. India has been very competitive in terms of education for decades now, students are often burdened with earning and looking after their family since a young age. In circumstances like these, the education system, as well as the social mindset, is to concentrate on academics and move on in a safe and secure fashion. Citizens of developed countries have a cushion available, this enables them to try out new things and explore 'extra-curricular' activities. But as usual, there will always be a lot of people who'll take offence to Woz's statement. How dare an outsider who has no idea how things work here to comment on our lack of creativity? Tweets: So Steve Woz says Indians lack creativity. There's a reason why Steve Jobs got rid of this dolt earlier in the life of @Apple : and as for our creativity: he needs to spend a lifetime understanding Jugaad. — SUHEL SETH (@suhelseth) February 27, 2018 Steve Wozniak says Indians aren't creative. I bet he hasn't heard about the PNB bank fraud. — Nischal (WazirX) (@NischalShetty) February 27, 2018 Take back your words Mr. Steve Woz. It was an indian who made the world's cheapest car ( nano). It was because of an Indian you are able to add zeros ( because it was an Indian who gave the world the number zero) behind the cost of your cheap mobile phones. — Satyanarayanan (@satish1468) February 26, 2018 Steve Woz stole code and hardware and made apple PC which was not even a new invention. APJ Abdul Kalam made most efficient GSLV rockets in the world. He made under water missiles and supervised the development of world's fastest cruise missiles. Lulz — Harshal (@Bhoolwerine) February 27, 2018 Woz... I believe you don't have knowledge to judge creativity cause only creative people understand others creativity — Kaushal (@Kaushal925Kumar) February 27, 2018 May be he should come to India and live here for a week. He will get to know how creative Indians are. NASA is running because of 30 percent Indians only. The only reason we are lagging behind is because of bad politics in our country. India is not spending well on R and D. — Mohit Garg (@mohitgarg34) February 27, 2018 Indians run some of the biggest technology companies Example-Google by Sundar Pichie Microsoft by Satya nadela — ððSreeram S Pðð (@Sreeram_SP_) February 26, 2018 On the flip side, there were a few who understood what he meant and were vocal about their support for the same: Yes we have to invoke that era because that was the era when we were independent n free to take decisions on our own.. The 800 odd years of rule has killed that ecosystem that helped such creativity to thrive. We are in the process of rebuilding that ecosystem. We wl get there — SCM Consultant (@oarhtanirs) February 27, 2018 I think Steve Woz is right! India is busy accumulating and not creating... Look at our businesses, media, influencers, musics, choreographs, cinemas... everything is so copied.May be coz we're too risk averse and choose to walk on a proven path at everything in our lives ð — Somenath Das (@somenathdasb) February 27, 2018
