After 'The Conjuring', 'Veronica' Is The Horror Film We Have All Been Waiting For

'The Conjuring' was one such horror film that set extremely high standards for viewers and let's face it, that's one hell of a feat because it isn't easy to scare the beejesus out of everyone. And since then, many horror films have come and gone, with only a few of them leaving us terrified. But finally, the internet has found something which is at par with the seminal film- enter, 'Veronica'. © Visualistas First things first, 'Veronica' is directed by Spanish film director Paco Plaza who is known for the creation of the horror film- trilogy 'REC' which took the entire world by storm. So when 'Veronica' came out, the expectations were at an all time high. But from what we have heard and read till now, the film has exceeded all these expectations. The film is inspired by an actual unsolved case in Spain and we think that's honestly enough to hook anyone and everyone. Because what is scarier than a horror film based on a real life incident? © Visualistas The movie tells the story of a teenage girl- Veronica, who is left with the responsibility of caring for her siblings after the death of their father. © Visualistas Since their mother is a working woman, Veronica eventually starts feelings burdened and lonely and so, she decides to bring back the spirit of their dead father by using an Ouija board. Because that's what every lonely teenager does, right? © Visualistas Well, if you were ever planning to use one for fun, you won't even think about it after watching this movie because things obviously don't go as planned. © Visualistas © Visualistas Now, just a heads up, the film did release in 2017 but the reason why we are talking about is that it just dropped on Netflix and has been getting rave reviews. From wanting to turn it off to comparing it to classic horror films, people are going crazy on social media: Go watch Veronica on netflix....its a spanish horror flick [obviously in spanish, but with subs] its pretty good... supposedly "based" on a true story I dunno, maybe thats for scare factor...either way, check it out I just watched it, i have to brave the dark to sleep now... nite — ThoseNiceCopperPipes (@NiceCopper) February 28, 2018 The new Paco Plaza flick VerĂ³nica hit netflix this week! Ridiculously stoked for this. A possession flick from one of the minds behind [REC]2 which is one of my favorite demon based films. pic.twitter.com/YLtZBUbFIN — lucas. (@nargles4life) February 28, 2018 Veronica on netflix is soooooo good. I usually am so skeptical about new age horror movies but damn im shook. — Almita (@OhBrujita) February 28, 2018 Watching Veronica on Netflix which is directed by Paco Plaza of REC fame. I have pretty much become desensitised to horror these days, but this is genuinely spinechilling. So yeah, don't mess with ouija boards kids. — Leigh Curtis (@LeighCurtis_NP) February 27, 2018 If @creepypuppet doesn't end up directing the next @TheConjuring movie can someone please call @paco_plaza? Just caught Veronica on @netflix and I am in awe! — Buttercup (@Sequins4Thought) February 27, 2018 Started watching Veronica on Netflix (huge REC fan so interested in anything Paco Plaza is involved in) but the demon walking down the hallway scene freaked me out so much I had to turn it off... #SuchAWuss pic.twitter.com/4oCcjQUJST — Nancy at Chase HQ (@weyland76) February 25, 2018 Have a look at the trailer: If the reviews and the trailer have convinced you to watch it (they did to us), good luck getting some sleep tonight and even though the film is in Spanish, it's never stopped us before, has it?
