iPhone 8 To Be Called iPhone X But There's A Surprise

There have been reports floating around the interwebs regarding the iPhone 8's name and early reports indicated that the next iPhone is going to be called ‘iPhone Edition'. The report also suggested that the regular upgraded model was going to be called iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. However, a new report from iCulture appears to have discovered the intended name of the new radical iPhone. (c) YouTube iCulture reports that a “reliable source” confirmed that the 10th anniversary iPhone will be called iPhone X. The reason why this sounds plausible is that iCulture claims that it was the same source who previously revealed the existence of the 10.5-inch iPad back in May. The iPad variant was eventually announced at WWDC 2017. (c) Macrumors The name of the next iPhone might be shrouded in mystery, however, the same source agrees with an earlier report that the standard iPhone models will be called 8/8 Plus. The reason why Apple has taken the decision to jump to iPhone 8 rather than the 7s/7s Plus brand is that the change is too dramatic of an upgrade. It is touted to have a new glass back and support wireless charging which according to the source cannot be considered as an “S” model. (c) YouTube The fact that there are two names floating around, it will be interesting to see who got it right once Apple confirms the three iPhones on September 12th. The source adds that pre-orders will begin on September 15th in the United States and will start shipping on September 22nd. If we look at Apple's pattern of Indian release dates, the iPhone tends to launch exactly a month after the U.S. release date. We can expect the new iPhone to hit Indian shores on 22nd October.
