Avoid Watching Porn On Android Smartphones Because They Are Vulnerable To Hacking And Ransomware
If you are currently using an Android smartphone, you should avoid watching porn on your device. Kaspersky Lab, a Russian cybersecurity company found at least 1.2 million users across porn-disguised malware. The company published a report yesterday which details about a quarter of the 4.9 million people that use Android devices to watch porn have encountered malware. © Thinkstock/Getty Images A hacking gang in 2017 have used fake porn apps to steal at least $892,000 from users. Porn is often used as a platform to entice victims to click on malware and half of the times users aren't even aware whether their smartphone has been infected with malware or not. Kaspersky found 23 different types of malware that are specifically designed for Android devices. All 23 types of malware relied on porn as a delivery tool and some of these apps even included ransomware and other Trojans. These Trojans would often attack your bank account details and fake subscriptions. © Thinkstock/Getty Images The Trojans present in porn apps would often open up pages and click on advertisements without the user knowing about it. These clicks would, in turn, earn money for the hackers and even drain battery life. The malware would also eat up a user's data as it can use up more than 100MB of data by clicking on advertisements alone. "The scariest thing about mobile ransomware is that these Trojans change (or set) the device PIN code to random, so even if the user can delete the Trojan, the phone will remain locked," Kaspersky Team said in its blog post. © Thinkstock/Getty Images Applications of an adult nature are not allowed in the Google Play Store, however various apps can be found on Porn websites in the form of a .apk file. Google recently deleted 700,000 apps that violated its policy. Android also has support for third-party stores where the majority of Porn apps can be downloaded. If you currently use an Android smartphone, we suggest you do not download any app from a third party store or from a website that advertises adult content. We recommend you stick to Google's Play Store as a source for applications. Source: CNET
