Here Is The Latest List Of The World's 10 Richest People As Of 2017
Did you know, this year, the planet's richest people increased their overall wealth by a staggering $1 trillion? It could be good news or bad news but the figure surely seems unbelievable. It has been a super good year for these super-rich people on Earth. As of 28 December here is what the list of top 10 in Bloomberg's widely watched Billionaires Index looks like. Many of the big names have retained their name from the last year as well and you won't be surprised when we tell you that more than half of them are American citizens. Do you ever dream of becoming that big that you get your name marked on such a list? Read on for that inspiration then. 1. Jeff Bezos (total net worth $100bn) ©SACRATOMATOVILLE POST Jeffrey Preston Bezos is the full name of the richest man in the world. No, it is not Microsoft founder Bill Gates, but the man who runs Amazon, the biggest e-retail company in the world. With an estimated addition of $34.7bn to his wealth as last estimated in 2016, Jeff surpassed Bill Gates in October to take the top spot in the Bloomberg ranking. 2. Bill Gates (total net worth $91.6bn) ©CNBC Microsoft's founder Bill Gates saw a moderate rise of $9.17bn in his wealth in 2017 when compared to the humongous rise of Jeff Bezos' wealth. If you are not aware, Bill Gates strongly believes in philanthropy and thus reportedly made a $4.6bn pledge to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. 3. Warren Buffett (total net worth $85.5bn) ©Real Leaders The third richest person in the world is Warren Edward Buffett. The brilliant investor serves as the chairman and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway and is known for his brilliant investment strategies. Also known by the Sage of Omaha, Warren grew his fortune by $12.3bn in 2017, according to Bloomberg. Americans dominating the top three positions. 4. Amancio Ortega (total net worth $75.7bn) ©India.com Amancio Ortega, the Spanish business tycoon may not be the name you may recognize easily but brands like Zara and Massimo Dutti will definitely make a sound of recognition. He is best known for co-founding Inditex which is the parent company of the above-mentioned brands. Amancio Ortega saw an increase of $3.6bn over the last 12 months though his share value seems to be going down as compared to last year. 5. Mark Zuckerberg (total net worth $73.2bn) ©The Sun Does Mark Zuckerberg need an introduction? I hope not. The ultimate king of social networking, and Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg was able to add $23.3bn to his wealth alone in 2017. This fourth largest increase of the year helped Mark secure the 5th position in the list. 6. Bernard Arnault (total net worth $63.6bn) ©The Telegraph Bernard Arnault, the French business magnate took many by surprise and managed to grow his net wealth by an estimated $24.5bn in this year. The richest man in France is the chief executive officer of luxury goods company LVMH. 7. Carlos Slim (total net worth $62.3bn) ©Forever Mogul Carlos Slim is a Mexican business magnate, investor, and philanthropist who managed to grow his wealth by $24.5bn in the current year. He owns a number of Mexican companies, across sectors including telecom, industrials, healthcare, transport, real estate, media, energy and financial services. In past, he had managed to be the world richest person for four consecutive years from 2010 to 2013. 8. Larry Ellison (total net worth $53.1bn) ©NDTV Gadgets Larry Ellison, the co-founder and executive chairman of technology giant Oracle secures the eighth position on the list. Larry managed to increase his wealth by $11.5bn in the last 12 months. 9. Larry Page (total net worth $52.6bn) ©Larry Page Another American from tech, Larry Page the co-founder of Google stands at the 9th position on the list. According to Google, Larry was able to add another $12.7bn to his wealth this year. The other co-founder of Google is not much far behind too and stands on the 11th position with total net-worth of $51.3bn as of 28th Dec 2017. 10. Ingvar Kamprad (total net worth $52.4bn) ©SlidePlayer This Scandinavian entrepreneur Ingvar Kamprad founded global furniture chain Ikea in the 1940s and has managed to secure the 10th position on the list. Being the oldest on the list he is 91 now and has managed to add a good $8.5bn to his wealth in the last 12 months.
