This Creepy AF Trailer Of 'The Open House' Will Make You Think Twice Before Inviting Someone Home

Apart from superheroes, this year was primarily ruled by two things - horror (ghosts, clowns, possessed dolls and what not) and Netflix. In fact, horror was one of the strongest genres of 2017, thanks to the amazingly frightening and creepy movies like 'It' and Annabelle: Creation'. And given the lineup of movies expected to release, we don't think 2018 will be any different, at least the first half. Seriously, we don't know what's gotten into Netflix recently, maybe a ghost or some supernatural entity. But, whatever it is, we hope that it continues looming over Netflix, because we are absolutely in love with the kind of shows they have been rolling out off late. (c) Netflix Honestly, it won't be wrong to say that Netflix has changed (read refined) television viewership for this generation and let's not forget to add, changed it for good with their original TV shows and movies. From 'Stranger Things', 'The Punisher', 'Narcos', 'Mindhunter', 'Gerald's Game' to '13 Reasons Why', 'Orange Is The New Black' and 'House Of Cards'; every series and movie was beyond exceptional and brilliant to say the least. As we ring in the New Year, Netflix is ready to blow our minds away with another brilliant movie, 'The Open House' starring Dylan Minnette aka Clay from '13 Reasons Why'. (c) Netflix After watching the recently released trailer, we guess we aren't wrong in raising our bar of expectations, a little too high for this one. 'The Open House' is an upcoming horror movie which revolves around a teenage boy, Logan and his mother, Naomi who find themselves trapped in and threatened by some bizarre circumstances, when they move into a new house that belongs to the mother's friend. The trailer starts off at a casual note, with neighbors being overly sweet and coming over for open houses. However, things soon escalate from casual to scary creepy, when the mother-son duo find out that someone from the open house may have stayed longer than expected and starts haunting them. 'The Open House' is directed by Matt Angel and Suzanne Coote and also features Piercey Dalton, Sharif Atkins, Aaron Abrams and Patricia Bethune among others. The movie is slated to release on Netflix on January 19, 2018. 'Horror' as a genre has always intrigued us and when you introduce trippy storylines like these, there is nothing that can stop you from getting sleepless nights. So, folks, go ahead and tag your friends who are brave enough to join you in this 'Netflix and Chills (down your spine)' ride.
