Sindh Home Minister Siyal out to review security ahead of New Year
Sindh Home Minister Sohail Ahmed Siyal KARACHI: Sohail Ahmed Siyal ? the Home Minister for Sindh ? drove out to the city late Saturday night to review security measures being implemented ahead of the New Year, noting that his visit comes on the back of citizens' complaints about difficulties they are facing after containers were allegedly placed on the roads. Siyal visited various areas near the metropolis' Defence and Clifton locales, including Sea View, and mentioned ? while speaking to the media ? that he has ordered the removal of the said containers. "No containers will be placed on the roads before New Year's Eve," he told journalists, adding that none of the roads will be blocked with or without the use of containers. The minister, however, has advised police to put into effect Section 144 as New Year approaches and check if it is being properly implemented. Talking about activities forbidden on the New Year, Siyal commented that he has advised action be taken against anyone engaged in aerial firing or one-wheeling as well as those who ride motorcycles without silencers. "I, myself, will be there to monitor roads around Sea View," he commented, adding that he will be celebrating the arrival of 2018 on the roads, alongside Karachiites.
