An 'Indian' Joke On Arranged Marriages Is Trending On Reddit & The Reactions Are Cracking Us Up

From chicken tikka and Punjabi songs to Virat Kohli and Deepika Padukone, we Indians are obsessed with a lot of things. But one of our strongest obsessions, rather of our mothers, is marriage. As soon as you cross the ripe age of 25, everyone around you starts looking at you as a potential groom or bride. God forbid if you stay unmarried till 30, you become the family's favourite tragic movie. And mind you, we don't marry just about anybody. We marry through a list of carefully selected Sharmaji ka betas and betis. While IITs and IIMs come at the top of the marriage market pyramid, doctors and CAs are not far behind. And our mummijis and chachis and mamis are forever on the lookout for any prospective Sharmaji ka beta/beti they could coax into marrying their children. An 'Indian' joke trending on Reddit just nailed this obsession of ours. A nice Indian woman gets up mid-flight to the US and shouts "Is there a doctor here?" A nice, serious guy approaches her quickly and tells her: "I am. What is the problem?" She replies: "Do you want to meet my daughter?" ð¤£ð¤£ð¤£ r/jokes — Ezio (@anjum_meer) April 2, 2018 If you are a twenty-something living in India, this joke will hit you hard and you will wonder whether to laugh or cry. As if this was not funny enough, the reactions of Redditors just added much needed pista on this shaadi ka ladoo. Beta, what's your gotra? Do you eat non-veg on Tuesdays? What's the use of a degree if you can't flaunt it? There is some serious competition No one wants writers *Wipes a stray tear* Beta, do you have kids? Umm, what's your salary package? Unless…her daughter likes women *sly grin* You know nothing, Jon Snow, our arranged marriage system is so foolproof no one can end up as lonely and single. Even if you want to. Ha! H/t – Reddit
