'Troy: Fall Of A City' Is The New GOT & We're Now Waiting For That One Guy Who Knows Nothing

Forget about your struggle with Trojan virus, it's time to shift your focus to Trojan War, one of the most brutal, strategically planned and badass battles in Greek mythology. Unless you chose to sleep through your History classes, you must have read about this epic war that went on for almost 9 years and the reason behind this – love story of Prince Paris of Troy and Queen Helen of Sparta, who was also known as Helen of Troy. © Netflix Several movies and series have been made on the Trojan War in the past, some of the prominent ones being Homer's 'The Iliad', 'Helen of Troy' 2003 miniseries starring Sienna Guillory and Matthew Marsden as Helen and Paris, and Wolfgang Petersen's 'Troy' starring Brad Pitt. Now, Netflix and BBC One are coming up with their own narration, which has everything it takes to become a perfect cure for the 'Game of Thrones' hangover. This BBC series has already aired in the UK and Netflix is now branding it as its original series. Just like they did with almost every other series. There has always been confusion around the story of Helen and Paris. © Netflix In some adaptations, it is depicted as a love story, while some say Helen was abducted by Paris and later returned to her husband Melenaus of Sparta, after the war. This series follows the struggles and events that threaten Troy's destruction when Helen and Sparta fall in love. The approach of the series looks similar to that of GOT – heavy dosage of ***, bloodbath and gory scenes that will make your blood curdle. But, I am sure within no time, you will find yourself hooked to this series as well. 'Troy: Fall of a City' is premiering on April 6, 2018 and features Louis Hunter, Bella Dayne, David Threlfall, Frances O'Connor and Tom Weston-Jones among others. Looking at this genre, we know it's slightly unfair to throw light only on 'Game of Thrones' when there are so many great series like 'Rome', 'Vikings', 'The Tudors' or 'The Last Kingdom'. But, the moment you start watching the show and get to know the characters like Daenerys Targaryen, Cercei Lannister, Arya Stark, Sansa Stark, Tyrion Lannister or the White Walkers and the Night King; fairness goes out of the window as prejudice makes room for itself on the couch, next to us to watch the series together. I am sorry I forgot to mention Jon Snow, maybe that's because I wrote 'know' in the beginning and couldn't bring myself to relate him with the word. © Netflix 'Game of Thrones' has set the pedestal too high for any show to compete, but by the looks of the trailer, 'Troy: Fall Of A City' seems to be a strong contender who can claim the throne back from GOT.
