Gautam Gambhir Comes Up With A Perfect Reply To Shahid Afridi's Comments Over Kashmir
Just like India and Pakistan, Gautam Gambhir and Shahid Afridi share a rivalry like no other in international cricket. No one can possibly forget their explosive on-field exchange which had set the tempers soaring during the 3rd ODI between India and Pakistan at Kanpur in 2007. While Gambhir is potentially out of contention of making the Team India cut, Afridi has already called time on his career. But, despite being away from international cricket, their rivalry transcended off the field after the former Pakistani cricketer publicly claimed that he will never be seen hanging out with the Delhi opener. The present-day scenario is no different and there is no love lost between the two cricketers. On 3 April, when Afridi was battling serious backlash from the Indians following his insensitive comments on the ongoing dispute in Kashmir, the Delhi Daredevils (DD) captain wasted no time in taking a pot shot at his old nemesis. Media called me for reaction on @SAfridiOfficial tweet on OUR Kashmir & @UN. What's there to say? Afridi is only looking for @UN which in his retarded dictionary means “UNDER NINTEEN” his age bracket. Media can relax, @SAfridiOfficial is celebrating a dismissal off a no- ball!!! — Gautam Gambhir (@GautamGambhir) April 3, 2018 Taking to Twitter, Gambhir wrote: "Media called me for reaction on @SAfridiOfficial tweet on OUR Kashmir & @UN. Appalling and worrisome situation ongoing in the Indian Occupied Kashmir.Innocents being shot down by oppressive regime to clamp voice of self determination & independence. Wonder where is the @UN & other int bodies & why aren't they making efforts to stop this bloodshed? — Shahid Afridi (@SAfridiOfficial) April 3, 2018 Earlier in the day, Afridi became the subject of immense criticism for his insensitive tweet about Kashmir where he labelled Indian army as an "oppressive regime". "Appalling and worrisome situation ongoing in the Indian Occupied Kashmir.Innocents being shot down by oppressive regime to clamp voice of self determination & independence. Wonder where is the @UN & other int bodies & why aren't they making efforts to stop this bloodshed?," he tweeted. Afridi's tweet was in reference to the series of counter-insurgency operations in three different areas of South Kashmir on Sunday. Indian armed forces handed a major setback to the terror groups in the Valley. A total of 12 terrorists were gunned down in what turned out to be one of the biggest counter-offensives against terrorist outfits in recent times in Kashmir. The operations rendered a severe blow to terror groups such as Hizbul Mujahideen and Lashkar-e-Taiba, but it sadly came at a cost of five lives. Two civilians and three Army jawans lost their lives during the gruelling operations. While the details on how or why the two civilians were killed isn't revealed, the demise of the three Army soldiers once again highlighted the never-ending sacrifices they make to keep us safe.
